Patrick Cantlay will tee it up at Caves Valley this week looking to win the BMW Championship for the third time.
Cantlay first won the BMW Championship in 2021 when the event was held at Caves Valley and then he defended his crown the following year at Wilmington Country Club.
Incredibly, that victory in 2022 was Cantlay’s last win.
The eight-time PGA Tour winner currently sits in 19th place in the FedEx Cup standings, and it is currently touch and go as to whether Patrick Cantlay will be on the US Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black next month.
That said, many are still tipping Cantlay to make the Ryder Cup team due to his experience and fine record in the competition, with five wins, two defeats and one half point to his name.
The 33-year-old has really struggled with his form this season, but a third win at the BMW Championship would completely turn everything around for him.
And what better place to do it than a place where he’s won before?
Patrick Cantlay talks about Caves Valley ahead of the BMW Championship
Cantlay will be desperate for a good finish this week in Baltimore, preferably a win.

The American’s game is very much suited to Caves Valley, so he will head into the tournament this week in good spirits.
Cantlay was asked to give his opinion on Caves Valley as a golf course, when speaking to the press on Tuesday afternoon.
He said: “Yeah, I’ve heard they’ve made some changes to the golf course, and I think this time of year it really all depends what kind of weather we get. If it rains a lot and there’s not a lot of wind, it will play easier. If it gets firm and fast conditions, a golf course like Caves Valley could be extremely difficult.“
Cantlay historically plays difficult golf courses very well, but he’s no stranger to going low either.
It’s worth remembering that he won at Caves Valley in 2021 with a score of 27-under par after rounds of 66, 63, 66 and 66.
While the total winning score may be similar this week, the score to par will obviously be different, with the par switching to 70.
