The PGA Tour heads to Detroit Golf Club for the Rocket Classic this week for the next stop on the schedule.
Detroit Golf Club is a relatively new stop for the PGA Tour, with the Rocket Classic having only been added to the schedule in 2019.
There is real intrigue surrounding the tournament this year.
For the first time in history, a former LIV player has received a sponsor invite to play a PGA Tour event, with James Piot set to tee it up at the Rocket Classic.

Cameron Davis won the Rocket Classic last year with a score of -18 under par 270 for four rounds being the highest winning score since the tournament’s inception six years ago.
So the golf course is clearly very scoreable indeed.
What many PGA Tour players think about the course at the Rocket Classic
Big names like Collin Morikawa, 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama and U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley are set to tee it up at Detroit Golf Club this week.
While many of the world’s best golfers aren’t in Detroit this week, The Rocket Classic definitely seems to be a fun stop on the PGA Tour.
But what are the players saying about the charming Donald Ross design behind the scenes?
Amy Rogers has been speaking on NBC’s Golf Central ahead of the Rocket Classic this week.
And the Golf Channel contributor revealed what one PGA Tour caddie told her about what the players are saying regarding the golf course in Detroit.

She explained: “This is a relatively new event on the PGA Tour and started in 2019. The course here at Detroit Golf Club has really attracted some of the world’s top ranked players back here year after year.
They don’t see many of these traditional lay outs week to week on the PGA Tour. Donald Ross designing both courses here on the property, so players relish this opportunity to get back here and play this venue.
“One caddie that I spoke to said the players really like that you can make a birdie on every hole here but you can also make a double on every hole here. Players find it really fun that they have to think their way around this golf course.
“I am told that quite a few trees have been removed throughout the property. The course is going to undergo a renovation next year, so already making some changes here ahead of that, but players very much looking forward to getting back here to play this course.“
The past six winning scores at the Rocket Classic
Detroit Golf Club is clearly one of the more gettable golf courses on the PGA Tour.
The golf course measures 7,370 yards and is a par 72. There are four par-5s, only one of which isn’t reachable at all times.
So it’s no surprise that we’ve seen some exceptional scoring at the Rocket Classic throughout the years.
