Cam Davis is back in the PGA TOUR winner circle, having lifted the Rocket Mortgage Classic trophy once more.

The Australian won the competition in a playoff back in 2021, and almost found himself in a similar situation this time around.

But it wasn’t meant to be as Akshay Bhatia fell short at the very last, narrowly missing his par-saving putt at the last, a miss that left Davis shocked.

The 22-year-old ended up finishing in a four-way tie for second place on 17 under, one shot behind champion Davis, having aimed to finish on 21 under.

The Australian has certainly been threatening to succeed in 2024, most notably with his tie for 12th at the Masters.

Cam Davis lays out goals after Rocket Mortgage Classic win

But that pales in comparison with his superb success at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, marking his second PGA Tour win.

The 29-year-old unsurprisingly now has grand plans after his victory, with Davis laying out his main aims for the rest of 2024.

“I’ve got two more big goals of finishing high on the FedExCup and also trying to get on that Presidents Cup team,” said Davis, as per the official PGA Tour website.

“Just to know that the good golf is in there and was able to come out this week, I want to just keep that rolling. I’ve still got plenty to play for this year.”

Davis began his Sunday round in disappointing fashion with a bogey, but quickly recovered with three birdies on the next six.

He ended his final round with a two under 70, his highest at the tournament, but it was still enough to take home the trophy.

Bhatia meanwhile was left heartbroken after missing his par-saving putt on the 72nd hole, which saw his day finish on 72.

That resulted in a tie for second at Detroit Golf Club alongside Davis Thompson, Min Woo Lee and Aaron Rai.

Davis will now be keen to go from strength to strength, with a spot in the prestigious Presidents Cup team among his ambitions.

The iconic tournament returns to The Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec, and gets underway in late September.
