John Daly is one of golf’s great characters and after winning two majors in his career, he’s well positioned to offer up some advice to the youngsters in the game, including a certain Charlie Woods.
Charlie – son of Tiger Woods – is often in the media spotlight purely because of his Dad but also, because he’s a fine golfer as well.
Charlie hit headlines this year when he made a hole in one at the PNC Championship as he and Tiger came within a shot of winning the event.
Indeed, young Woods impressed eventual winner Bernhard Langer, and now, John Daly has revealed he’s offered Tiger some advice on how to get Charlie to hit the ball further.

John Daly shares his advice for Tiger Woods when it comes to his son Charlie
Speaking on the latest episode of the Like a Farmer Podcast, Daly spoke about meeting Charlie and explained that he’d given Tiger some advice when it came to Woods Junior.
“I told Tiger, I said you have to let Charlie spend a month with me. I have to put some mash potatoes and meet in that boy. We have to gain him some weight,” Daly said.
“Because he is going to hit a growth spurt and be like 6ft 2 and he is going a bone! We need to put some Jon Daly food in that boy and get him up a bit.
“Let him gain some weight and then he will probably hit it 60 yards past everybody like little John does.”

What Charlie can do at 15 that Tiger Woods could never
Naturally, Charlie Woods is in the public eye and a lot of it is down to the fact he is the son of Tiger.
However, it’s worth remembering he is a fine golfer in his own right.
In fact, Tiger himself has said Charlie is better at his age then he ever was when it comes to certain aspects of the game.
“He’s gotten better at every facet of the game. That’s a commitment to practicing and developing as a player. I think that most of us forget he’s only 15 years old. I know he’s been doing this in front of the media for a long time. But being only 15, I think it’s incredible what he’s been able to accomplish so far, and the ceiling that he has is unlimited,” Tiger said.
“I wish I hit it that far and that good. I definitely did not do that at his age.”
With Tiger hitting the age of the senior tour in a year and Charlie still developing, it will be interesting to see if we ever get to see both go up against each other in a PGA Tour or other sanctioned event.
