Bernhard Langer managed to get one over his good friend Tiger Woods by winning the PNC Championship for a second time this weekend and denying a fairy tale story for Tiger and son Charlie.
Langer holed out on the playoff hole to win it for he and son Jason as they successfully defended the title from 2023.
Of course, many on course wanted Tiger and Charlie to win but the Langers were deserved winners and were more than gracious in defeat as well.
But while golf fans fumed at Langer being able to use the front tees, Langer himself kept it classy and gave a glowing tribute to the Woods family, including Charlie.

Bernhard Langer praises Tiger Woods and says Charlie Woods has the ‘whole game’
Speaking to the media on course after picking up the trophy, Langer paid tribute to both Tiger and Charlie and in doing so, gave his verdict on Charlie’s overall golf game.
“I truly enjoyed playing with Tiger and Charlie today,” Langer said. “They’re such wonderful competitors and great human beings. It was fun to see the two of them out there together and when Charlie made that hole in one, I’ve never seen Tiger happier! It was a surreal moment and a thrill to be part of spectating.”
“And I know most of you would love to have Tiger and Charlie here, winning. I’m convinced they will win it several times in the future. I mean, Charlie bombs it, and he’s got the whole game. He putts great and we know that Tiger can do, and it won’t take them long I can assure you.”
How the golf world reacted to a thrilling PNC Championship
This is normally one of the events which is there for some fun and while serious enough for those competing, it’s usually about family and having fun.
However, this year’s event, with Tiger and Charlie at the forefront, saw viewers from around the world glued to the TV.
Bubba Watson lauded the event, while YouTube star Grant Horvat also took to X to show his appreciation for the PNC.
There was also the undercurrent of Charlie making his hole in one, while Padraig Harrington’s son refused to be outdone and landed one of his own.
The PNC, then, has ended a tumultuous golfing year on a high and it’s once again got fans excited about what Tiger can bring to the table in 2025.
