Tyrrell Hatton continues to divide opinion among golf fans, with the Englishman undoubtedly one of the most controversial figures on the course.
Hatton was labelled a “toddler” at the Dubai Desert Classic earlier this season, representing one of many instances of fans criticising his actions.
He is currently plying his trade on LIV Golf, where recently Hatton bemoaned the “worst hole on the planet” was in place at Dallas.
He joined LIV Golf from the PGA Tour in 2024 after claiming one win at the 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational, while this season Hatton has been impressing at the major championships.
He has finished T14, T60 and T4 at The Masters, PGA Championship and US Open respectively, with The Open Championship up next for the Englishman.

Tyrrell Hatton admits if he actually loves playing golf
But first up this week is LIV Golf Andalucia, where Hatton continues his search for a first win of the season.
And ahead of the event, his thoughts on the sport he plays have now emerged, with Hatton having been asked if he loves golf.
Responding, the 33-year-old told Golf: “Do I love golf? I guess I love elements of it, with the competition side.
“But everyone out here is a very competitive person. You can’t ever lose that. I think sometimes it’s hard to go out and practice.
“I think when you love it, that’s easy to do. When it feels like a chore to go out and hit balls when you have got time off and whatever. It depends on what frame of mind you’re in.
“If you are enjoying golf at that moment then it’s a bit easier. I’d say the longer I’ve played, it definitely fluctuates.”
How has Tyrrell Hatton performed on LIV Golf ahead of The Open Championship?
As mentioned, it’s been an impressive major championship season for Hatton so far, particularly at the US Open.
Hatton was in contention at Oakmont Country Club along with Robert MacIntyre, but it was J.J. Spaun who ultimately clinched the trophy.
Still, the performance and result in very difficult conditions should give Hatton huge confidence for Royal Portrush, which hosts The Open next week.
More tricky conditions could be on the cards in Northern Ireland, where Hatton will be one of 19 LIV Golf players involved.
That list includes his Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm, who occupies third spot in the LIV Golf individual standings.
Hatton meanwhile is down in 16th, but his side is behind only Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC in the team standings.
| Tournament | Position |
| Riyadh | T6 |
| Adelaide | T23 |
| Hong Kong | T20 |
| Singapore | T19 |
| Miami | T33 |
| Mexico City | T5 |
| Korea | T13 |
| Virginia | T15 |
| Dallas | T5 |
That situation could help the Englishman go under the radar somewhat at Portrush, where most eyes will be on Rory McIlroy anyway.
As for LIV Golf, Rahm and DeChambeau could find themselves under the spotlight, but Hatton may just fancy his chances of another very strong week.
