Tyrrell Hatton secured Europe’s second Ryder Cup win in a row on the 18th green at Bethpage Black on Sunday.
Shane Lowry holed the putt to retain the Ryder Cup for Europe just 30 minutes prior to Hatton sealing the deal.
Bethpage Black was the host to one of the most dramatic final days in Ryder Cup history, and Europe emerged as victors in spite of a tremendous fightback from the United States.
The United States players deserve huge credit for the way they fought back, with Bryson DeChambeau’s fightback on Ryder Cup Sunday setting the tone for his team.
However, Europe stemmed the tide in the end, winning by a score of 15 to 13.
Hatton got the job done for Luke Donald, and he capped off a fantastic week in the process.
Tyrrell Hatton speaks straight after securing the winning point on Ryder Cup Sunday
The 34-year-old Englishman ended the week at Bethpage with a record of three wins and one all important half point from the four matches he played.
Hatton remained ice cool under pressure, with one birdie and six pars over his final seven holes enough to get the job done in the end.

He spoke to reporters after his half point secured the win, and responded when asked how he felt down the stretch.
He said: “Yeah, to be honest it has been one of the hardest days I have ever experienced on a golf course.
“Going out number 10 out of 11 matches, hoping that everything is wrapped up but you still want to take pride in your individual record.
“The US lads put up an amazing fight, it was to be expected, they were amazing players. Selfishly I was really hoping it wouldn’t have to come down to me.
“The last five, six, seven holes were just horrible to be honest. At the end of the day I’m just so happy we were able to win.
“This is a special team. I’m very fortunate to be a very small part of it. The 12 players, the caddies, the captain, the vice-captains. So many backroom staff have put so much into this.“
Those comments from Hatton are as honest as they come, and fair play to him for revealing how he really felt.
Tyrrell Hatton rock solid under pressure cooker of Ryder Cup Sunday
Hatton deserves so much credit for getting it done when it really mattered for Team Europe.
He wasn’t spectacular down the stretch, but he parred the final six holes under extreme pressure.
It’s easier said than done to play solid golf when you’re under the spotlight like that.
Hatton didn’t flinch and he can now lay claim to be the man who earned the winning point for Europe at the Ryder Cup.
The LIV player is a sensational golfer and he is clearly someone who can be relied upon when things get tough.
Well done Tyrrell Hatton and congratulations to Team Europe.
