Bryson DeChambeau produced a quite incredible comeback to earn a half point against Matt Fitzpatrick as the United States stormed back on a truly sensational Ryder Cup Sunday at Bethpage Black.
While the result of the Ryder Cup is still up in the air at the time of writing, the United States players did themselves proud on Sunday at Bethpage, with DeChambeau‘s fight and resilience particularly impressive.
The Ryder Cup week started with DeChambeau being labelled a ‘captain’s nightmare’ by Brandel Chamblee, but he proved the controversial golf golf analyst wrong in the end.
The 32-year-old LIV golfer has actually been in really poor form this week by his high standards.
DeChambeau’s first two days were summed up by his controversial Ryder Cup clash with Justin Rose on the 15th green on Saturday.
He produced a lot of energy but his golf simply didn’t back it up.
And after the first seven holes of his singles match with Fitzpatrick on Sunday, it seemed like he was destined for yet more disappointment.
However, after a scintillating back nine, DeChambeau earned a huge half point.
Bryson DeChambeau speaks after keeping USA’s hopes alive at the Ryder Cup
The two-time US Open champion seriously produced the goods on the back nine at Bethpage on Sunday.

There was a lot of blue on the board early on in the afternoon, but things changed very quickly.
DeChambeau led the fightback with some sensational golf as he birdied five of his final 10 holes.
And after he walked off the 18th green, he shared his love for his country.
He said: “I gave it everything I had for the team. Like my dad always said you have to keep swimming you can’t give up. That’s what I did today. Very proud of how I finished after being five down. Super emotional. I put my heart and soul into this Ryder Cup. Albeit it wasn’t the points I wanted to get for the team, we are not out of this. I love my country.“
Fair play to DeChambeau. He could have easily given up when he was five down to Fitzpatrick but he did the complete opposite.
Hat tips all round for the LIV golf star.
