Tyrrell Hatton has heaped praise on the crowds at LIV Golf UK after carding a five-under 66 on day one at JCB.

Hatton’s day didn’t start well after he made a double bogey on his first hole. However, the 32-year-old battled back and made seven birdies to finish three shots back of leader Jon Rahm.

Hatton is testing a new putter this week and appears to have quickly found a groove with his flat stick.

The JCB event has proven popular, with English fans snapping up all available ground pass tickets.

It appears the atmosphere on the course is also positive, and Hatton has claimed many of the players would’ve enjoyed their rounds as a result.

“Playing in front of English fans, they were quite vocal out there today, which was nice,” Hatton said. “It really felt like you’re playing a big tournament, which is great. I think all the players would have enjoyed that today.”

Tyrrell Hatton continues remarkable LIV Golf form

Unfortunately, Hatton didn’t contend at last week’s Open Championship. But his LIV Golf form shows no sign of letting up.

After landing his first win in Nashville, the Englishman went on to place third in Andalucia.

LIV Golf leader Joaquin Niemann is in a commanding position at the top of the standings, but a win for Hatton this week will propel him above Sergio Garcia and teammate Rahm.

Much like we saw in Nashville, Rahm and Hatton could be set to go head-to-head once more this weekend.
