Bryson DeChambeau is well-known within golfing circles for his left-field takes and sometimes controversial views.
DeChambeau is fondly known as the ‘mad scientist’ for a reason, and the 31-year-old never leaves anything to chance.
The 31-year-old American is one of the biggest draws in golf, and he has contended in pretty much every single major since the start of 2024.
After the PGA Championship had finished, DeChambeau admitted that he needs to become more consistent down the stretch in major championships.
But how does he go about doing that?

DeChambeau has been told to improve his wedge play, just like Rory McIlroy did, in order to reach the highest level.
In fairness to him, he does have two US Open titles to his name, so it’s not like his game isn’t good enough to win major titles.
He just needs to tighten up a few things, and one of them, in his mind, is the golf ball that he uses.
PGA Tour winner responds to Bryson DeChambeau’s controversial comments
After the PGA Championship, DeChambeau said he needs a golf ball that ‘flies straighter’:
“What I really think needs to happen, being pretty transparent here, is just get a golf ball that flies a little straighter. Everybody talks about how straight the golf ball flies. Well, upwards of 190 like Rory and myself, it’s actually quite difficult to control the golf ball.
“I’m going to work my butt off to make that happen. It’s all up to manufacturing. We’ll see what happens but I’m keen on finding something and I’m keen on improving. I’m excited for that.”
The comments seemed bizarre at the time, and now Davis Riley has had his say.
The two-time PGA Tour winner and defending Charles Schwab Challenge champion was asked about DeChambeau’s comments on the golf ball.
And Davis’s reply was laced with sarcasm more than anything else.
He said, “I’ve been a Titleist player my whole career, so to be quite honest, I haven’t tested around with my golf balls.

“Yeah, I mean, there is a ball fitting process for every player. I believe there is a particular ball for every player, but I don’t know. I feel like that could be the Indian more than the golf ball.
“I don’t know. I don’t know what Bryson — I mean, he plays all kinds of — he’s been known to play some crazy equipment, do a lot of crazy equipment changes. All I really know is the golf ball that I have fitted for me, when I hit it how I want, it goes just as straight as I want to.“
DeChambeau well off the mark with golf ball comments
The 31-year-old American needs to find a way to take some spin off his golf ball, especially with his short irons and wedges.
He just swings too fast at every single shot, and needs to learn how to incorporate a three-quarter, knock-down swing into his game.
We would all like a golf ball that flies straighter, wouldn’t we!
DeChambeau says things sometimes that make him an easy target for criticism from the media and golf fans alike.
And his latest remarks about the golf ball certainly fit into that category.
