The LPGA Tour continues this week with the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, where many high-profile names are involved.

It immediately follows the Kroger Queen City Championship, which was won in dramatic circumstances by Charley Hull.

Hull admitted to being injured during the victory, which arrived on the final hole against world number one Jeeno Thitikul.

Thitikul was praised by Hull after their drama at TPC River’s Bend, where the former four-putted on the 72nd hole as the latter secured a birdie to win by one shot.

But the LPGA Tour now turns to the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, which takes place at Pinnacle Country Club.

Two-time major champion confirms she will retire from golf shortly

Among the players in the field is former world number one Stacy Lewis, who has just announced her decision to retire from golf at the end of the season.

Issuing an emotional statement, she posted on X: “22 years ago, I arrived on campus in Fayetteville, three months out of back surgery and unable to bend or twist, not sure if I would ever really play golf again.

“There were many trips to the training room and sleepless, uncomfortable nights, but I came out of the surgery a different person. I was so appreciative for the opportunity just to swing a club, everything since has been a bonus!

“Never in a million years, would I have thought this journey playing golf would still be going in 2025, but the time has come to put the clubs away.

“I will finish out the 2025 season, but this will be my last on the LPGA. I’m not exactly sure what is next but I’m so grateful for all the Arkansas fans and people that have supported me along way!

“Success takes a lot of patience and a great support system around you. I was so fortunate to have two great coaches at Arkansas, Kelley and Shauna, that pushed me and showed me what was possible.

“Then as I turned professional, Joe, David, and Jeff became huge additions to my team, always helping to find ways to make me better on and off the course.

“Finally, my only caddie of 17 years, Travis, the most consistent, reliable person I could ever ask for, he was always the same person whether we won or lost, and the big brother I never had!

“I’m going to miss the LPGA Tour family and this part of my life, but my body has told me it’s time. My husband became a part of the team too, fitting in seamlessly providing great balance and stability to my life.

“I’m looking forward to our calendars being more in sync and having more time as a family. It’s been amazing to watch our daughter grow up on tour with our incredible childcare family, getting through the last seven years has truly taken a village!

“When you have a child of your own, you appreciate your own parents even more. I’m so thankful my parents have been able to take this journey with me, being there for the highs and lows, the tough love when I needed it, and lately being great babysitters!

“There are many more people to thank privately over the next few months, but I do have to mention the sponsors that have supported me personally and my vision to grow women’s golf, Antigua, KPMG, Stephens, and Tyson. You all were a huge part of my career and I’m proud of all that we have done together!

“I’ve cared for the LPGA Tour like it was my own child and I’m so proud of the progress we have made, but to my fellow players, we aren’t done! I hope you all continue to push the tour forward and do all that you can to help on and off the course!

“Now, it’s time to tee it up for the 19th time in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, I can’t wait for all the Hog Calls and playing for all of you in Arkansas one more time! Go Hogs!”

And quick to share her reaction was 10-time major winner Annika Sorenstam, who wrote: “Congratulations on a wonderful career!”

Stacy Lewis’s fantastic career feats after announcing decision to retire

Lewis first joined the LPGA Tour all the way back in 2009, and the American went on to clinch an impressive 13 titles.

And on that list are two major championship wins, which arrived at the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship and 2013 Ricoh Women’s British Open.

She won the former by three strokes after recovering from a two-shot deficit, and the latter by two strokes after a one-shot deficit.

Lewis was also named Player of the Year on two occasions, and twice served as a US Solheim Cup captain.

The veteran is now chasing further success at this week’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, where she has been paired with Nelly Korda and Lauren Coughlin.

The all-American trio is certain to attract plenty of attention this week, although many eyes will be on Lewis as she counts down the days until her well-earned retirement.
