Which players are in the Truist Championship field?

World number one Scottie Scheffler is the standout absentee from the Truist Championship this week.

The American has opted to take a break after finishing runner-up for a third straight event at the Cadillac Championship.

Even without Scheffler, there is still no shortage of star power at Quail Hollow for the latest PGA Tour Signature Event.

Masters champion Rory McIlroy returns to action for the first time since Augusta National at another venue where he has enjoyed success.

Cameron Young, Matt Fitzpatrick, Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Aberg, and Tommy Fleetwood are all also in the field.

Truist Championship expert picks

The Golfing Gazette experts have made their picks for the Truist Championship this week.

Charlie Walker: Ludvig Aberg has been knocking on the door all season long. Throwing away his chance of winning The Players has made us all overlook just how good he’s been this year, with four top fives in his last five starts, and I think he’s going to go all the way and win this week

James Shearman: Tommy Fleetwood has arguably been the most underwhelming player on the PGA Tour this season. However, the Englishman’s T23 finish at the Cadillac Championship suggests he’s trending in the right direction. Fleetwood’s long-iron game also suits Quail Hollow perfectly, having finished T5 in 2023.

Peter Lynch: Min Woo Lee has found his feet again after a difficult few weeks on the PGA Tour, and I think a long-overdue win is on the cards for the Australian this week.

Jordan Harris: Xander Schauffele has finished second at each of the last two Truist Championships to take place at Quail Hollow. He is playing well this year without yet getting across the line and winning. But that run without a win ends this week at the penultimate signature event of the year.
