Tommy Fleetwood’s victory at the Tour Championship was one of the greatest moments in the 2025 PGA Tour season.
Fleetwood had already won multiple events on the DP World Tour and established himself as a top 10 player in the world, but something important was missing from his resume.
The Englishman was not only the best active golfer, but probably the best of any era never to have won on the PGA Tour.
That all changed at East Lake as Fleetwood fended off Patrick Cantlay to lift one of the sport’s biggest titles, the FedEx Cup.
From Tiger Woods to LeBron James, so many celebrities reacted to Fleetwood’s victory, and here’s what he made of the reaction on social media.

Tommy Fleetwood reacts to Tiger Woods and LeBron James congratulating him
Fleetwood’s journey towards his first PGA Tour win garnered so much attention because of the way he responded to his shortcomings.
The 34-year-old is often described as one of the nicest people in the industry, and he proved it time and time again after disappointing final rounds.
Fleetwood continually showed his class, congratulating his opponents and remaining optimistic that he would win eventually.
His fans even included Tiger Woods and LeBron James, who tweeted about him after he won the Tour Championship at East Lake.
“I think the whole thing touched me more than anything, more than any particular person,” Fleetwood said about those messages in his press conference before the BMW PGA Championship.
“When I finished, you’re in such a bubble, obviously, when you’re playing and very focused on the day. And like I did the two or three hours of like commitments afterwards, a lot of people mentioned Tiger Woods Tweeted and LeBron James, and so throughout it all, I think that story built up quite a lot.
“Throughout it all, I always just try to say the right things to myself and the right things outwardly, and I try to have the best attitude possible and be the best example. I probably underestimated, at the time, how much people appreciated it. I just thought it was the right thing to do, and that’s how you should be.
“But yeah, for it to happen the way it did and for that story to build and eventually getting over the line and winning that one at East Lake, which is such a huge one, and to see the story and how people reacted, it was the coolest thing, it really, really was.
“You kind of get lost in your bubble a little bit. Every week, you get close to the finish line, and I was there, and it didn’t quite happen. For me, it was built on the positives and reset from the negatives that didn’t happen, learn from it, and go again. I was hearing about it and talking about it, but I wasn’t aware of how many people were affected.”
Tommy Fleetwood says what mattered ‘more than’ celebrity reactions
In typical Tommy Fleetwood fashion, he remains humble despite his huge success and newfound fame.
As much as he appreciated the kind words from Woods, James, and the many other celebrities, he was more proud of inspiring the next generation, not least his own children.
“As usual, I think the reactions from my family, my closest people, and I think just having the opportunity to… I think more than anything, like again, it’s easy to tell the kids the right thing all the time,” Fleetwood continued.
“But again, being an example that it can happen for you if you keep going, I think more than anything, it was like, I had the opportunity to show my kids what can happen, and then, like you can do it.
“So I think that was the most important thing to me. That was the thing that touched me the most.”
