Tommy Fleetwood has once again fallen short of a maiden PGA Tour win after missing out on the FedEx St. Jude Championship title to Justin Rose.
Fleetwood was disappointed after the St. Jude Championship concluded, having held a one-shot lead heading into the final round.
He led fellow Englishman Rose by one shot going into Sunday, but it was the veteran who held his nerve to win the St. Jude Championship via a play-off.
Fleetwood shared his admiration for Rose at TPC Southwind, where the latter secured a narrow victory over J.J. Spaun.
The pair entered a play-off in Memphis after finishing their four rounds on 16-under, one shot ahead of Fleetwood and Scottie Scheffler, who finished T3.

Still seeking a first PGA Tour victory, Fleetwood has shown his class in defeat, taking to social media after another near miss.
He wrote on Instagram: “With every disappointment I truly know I’m closer and closer and even more determined than ever that I will get this done.
“The support I’ve received is invaluable and hugely appreciated, we’ll get there together! Justin Rose, your win is inspiring, congratulations my friend! A new week. See you at work!”

There is, of course, very little time for Rose and Fleetwood to ponder their latest displays, with the playoffs continuing this week.
Both players will be in action at the BMW Championship at Caves Valley, which is followed by the Tour Championship at East Lake.

But whether Fleetwood can fully recover from another setback remains to be seen, having suffered similar heartache at the Travelers Championship earlier this season.
He now has 162 PGA Tour starts to his name, with six runner-up finishes and six third place finishes recorded.
Rose meanwhile is now a 12-time champion on the PGA Tour, and its oldest European winner in the modern era.
He showed his class and experience at TPC Southwind, with Spaun also deserving huge praise for his efforts in round four to create a thrilling end to the week.
