Tom Kim is struggling with his game right now, but with the Presidents Cup scheduled for 2026, he will have more than enough motivation to get his game back in order.
Kim is a huge fan of playing team golf, and earned huge praise for his passionate showings at the Presidents Cup in 2022 and 2024.
The 23-year-old clearly knows his golf. Kim was one of the first to predict that Scottie Scheffler was about to go on a tear back in April.
Not only does he know the game inside out, but the three-time PGA Tour winner is very mature for his age as well, and that’s why he has featured twice for the International team at the Presidents Cup already.
Kim sat out just one match at the Presidents Cup in 2024, and that says everything we need to know about him.
However, the PGA Tour star has opened up on something that he finds so difficult about coming up against the American team.
Tom Kim says what he finds frustrating about American Presidents Cup teams
Kim has loved every minute of the two Presidents Cups that he has played in over the past few years.
His attitude is built for team competition and his fiery, competitive nature serves him well in the cauldron of Presidents Cup matches.

However, he has been beaten more times than he has won matches when coming face-to-face with the Americans.
And there is one thing that he finds so frustrating when coming up against Team USA.
Kim was speaking on an Irons-Only Alternate Shot Challenge video for Titleist on YouTube, and responded when asked what he thinks of taking on the Americans at the Presidents Cup.
“The one thing about the American team that they’re so good at is that one guy will hit it out of play, one guy will shoot even par, the other guy will shoot like three-under, but they’ll make like nine birdies. One guy might make triple, but one guy might make birdie. It’s just so frustrating.”
Tom Kim’s Presidents Cup record vs the USA
Kim has a fairly average record when facing the Americans in the Presidents Cup.
Here is how his record looks throughout the years:
| Results | Tom Kim |
| Matches played | 9 |
| Won | 3 |
| Lost | 5 |
| Halved | 1 |
Kim has definitely lost more matches than he would have liked to in the Presidents Cup.
However, it’s worth remembering that he is still only 23, and experience counts for so much in these team events.
Kim may be going through a mini-slump with his game right now, but he will be back to his best again soon, and then his attention can switch to the Presidents Cup in 2026.
