Tiger Woods will be hoping to contend at The Open this coming week and he’s been explaining just why he feels he’s in good shape to do so.
Woods is returning for his final event of the year and hoping to make an impression around Royal Troon after what has been a dismal year really.
Two missed cuts at the US Open and PGA Championship, and a 60th place finish at The Masters have ensured it’s been a year to forget on the course for Woods.
However, having won The Open three times before, Tiger will be feeling confident of at least giving things a good go around the links of Royal Troon.
Of course, much will depend on how Woods’ body holds up. Injuries have played havoc on his career and they’ve contributed heavily to his demise in recent times.
But Woods, ever confident in himself, has explained why he’s feeling better than ever.

Tiger Woods reveals why he’s much more confident in his body ahead of The Open
Speaking to the press ahead of The Open getting underway on Thursday, Woods revealed that some work in the gym has left him feeling much more confident in how his body will react.
“I have been training a lot,” Woods commented.
“We have been busting it pretty hard in the gym which has been good. The body has been feeling better to do such things, and it translates to being able to hit the ball better.
“Can’t quite stay out there on practice sessions as long as I would like but I am able to do things which I haven’t been able to do all year, which is nice.”
Making the cut will be a big win for Tiger Woods at Royal Troon
While it’s easy to get excited about Tiger’s return to playing and we seem to get caught up in it every time, just seeing him make the cut and go into the weekend would feel huge.
It was hard to watch him around Valhalla and Pinehurst at times and you just hope that his injuries stay manageable and he can produce.
Of course, pre-tournament build-up has centred around his mini spat with Colin Montgomerie, with Woods responding after ‘Monty’ suggested he should retire.
Likewise, a number of golf fans don’t have any confidence at all in Woods making the cut, with suggestions his practice rounds always outdo his actual rounds.
Time will tell, of course. But it would be lovely to see Woods bow out of 2024 in some sort of style.
