Tiger Woods is set to make a rare appearance at this week’s Open as he looks to land his first major title since 2019.
2024 has been a stop-start year for the 48-year-old as he looks to return to full fitness. Thus far, his outing at the Masters has been his best display.
The three-time winner of the Claret Jug is already at Royal Troon ahead of the 152nd Open as preparations for the final major of 2024 begin.
Woods caught the eye with an impressive tee shot on the eighth hole on Monday, and the golfing world has now decided how he will perform after footage of his practice round emerged.
Golf fans predict how Tiger Woods will perform at The Open

Footage shared by Fore Play Pod on X showed the 48-year-old producing some exquisite iron play during his practice round on Monday.
Of course, with Woods looking polished in his practice rounds, expectation levels will no doubt increase.
However, golf fans are mainly in agreement over how he will perform this week.
“So we can see him miss the cut. Bro come on,” wrote one fan. While another added: “He’s not gonna make the cut. Put your attention on someone who will actually make the weekend.”
This fan suggested Woods’ practice rounds always look different to his tournament play.
“He always shoots a 65 in the practice rounds then goes +11 for the tournament,” he wrote.
Several fans went as far as to predict a withdrawal from the 15-time major champion.
I’ll give it until 13 on Thursday,” one wrote. “Withdrawal or missed cut on Friday!! Hasn’t changed the last 4-5 times out, why change now….”
Another added: “Back injury with a withdrawal coming soon.”
Massive week for Tiger Woods at Royal Troon
After missing the cut at the US Open, there were murmurings that Woods had perhaps featured in golf’s most challenging major for the final time.
Colin Montgomerie even sent a blunt retirement message to the former world number one.
However, a positive performance at The Open could see Woods rejuvenated ahead of the 2025 season.
There have been promising signs during his fleeting outings this year; it’s now about ensuring he plays more regularly and gives himself more chances of winning.
Making the cut and being in contention this week could give Woods genuine belief that he can challenge the world’s best players on the biggest stages.
