Tiger Woods has revealed when he made his first ever hole-in-one during a brief appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

It’s been a frustrating couple of years for the 15-time major champion, who returned to action at The Masters last month.

There was plenty of reason to be positive for Woods, who carded one over par in the first two rounds before a difficult weekend ensued.

His performance, particularly on Friday, should provide optimism heading into the PGA Championship at Valhalla in just a matter of weeks.

Woods made a slightly unexpected appearance on Fallon’s show on Tuesday evening.

The 48-year-old usually keeps himself to himself and didn’t appear at all in Netflix’s hit show ‘Full Swing’. So when he does make the odd appearance out of the blue, it’s often intriguing viewing.

Woods appeared to be in a good mood on Tuesday evening and even told Fallon the story of his first ever hole-in-one at the age of eight.

He said: “I was eight. It was at a par three course in Heartwell, it was the 12th hole and I hit a three wood over the top of the bunker and it rolled in. I didn’t see it go in because I was too short!”

Tiger Woods did something at eight that most of us can barely dream of

Woods has done something at the age of eight that most normal golfers can only dream of.

But it should come as no surprise. Tiger is a freak of nature; what he accomplished in his teens blew away the best in the world with ease.

Looking ahead, fans can only dream of Woods holding another major championship one day. His first two rounds at Augusta demonstrated his game can compete when required. The trick now is to put together a solid 72 holes and see where it takes him.

It would be brilliant for the game to see the 48-year-old’s famous red jersey making its way down Valhalla’s 18th fairway late on Sunday afternoon in the upcoming PGA Championship.
