Padraig Harrington has revealed what he finds completely “fascinating” about in-form PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler has given off Tiger-esque vibes in recent weeks, having picked up back-to-back victories at The Masters and the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town.

Luckily for the rest of the tour, the two-time major winner took last week off, allowing Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowery to claim the Zurich Classic in New Orleans.

Scheffler’s next outing will likely come at the PGA Championship at Valhalla, which is just over two weeks away. And right now, it’s hard to look past the 27-year-old landing three wins in a row.

Comparisons have, rightfully, been made between Scheffler and Tiger Woods.

Of course, the New Jersey-born star will have to continue this form over several years to be considered as one of the all-time greats.

There’s been plenty of talk surrounding Scheffler’s current form, and Harrington is the latest to have his say.

Speaking on Peter Finch’s Rough Cut Podcast, he said: “Scottie is fascinating. As good a player as he is, maybe not right now, I think everyone wanted to underestimate him.

“You look at the foot movement and the things going on. He’s not Tiger Woods yet but he’s playing like Tiger Woods. He hasn’t got the personality in that sense, but take that away, and he’s a phenomenal golfer and fascinating to watch.

“The question is, is he on a run, or is this who he is? Is he going to be like this for the next ten years, or is it an 18-month run?”

He added: “You’re in the first hole of the last round of a major; I can tell you you’re anxious to get off to a decent start. He made a solid chip and putt on the first, a great chip and putt on two, and then he made a great up and down out of the bunker to make birdie at three.

“He’s one-under after three and hasn’t played well. That sort of thing is what a great player does. He hasn’t played great, but he settles himself.”

Can Scottie Scheffler maintain his current form?

Harrington makes an excellent point. We’ve seen plenty of big names have 18 months of exceptional form. McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka, to rattle off a few.

All these players were, at one point, completely dominant. No one could get near them at their best. However, what sets Woods apart is his longevity. The 15-time major winner was relentless for far longer than anyone else has ever been.

Scheffler’s current level is easily as good as Tiger’s best; the question is just how long he can maintain it. Another major victory at Valhalla in May will undoubtedly have the golfing world talking about a potential grand slam, a feat only achieved by Bobby Jones in 1930.
