Tiger Woods has suggested that he is looking to play more consistently on the PGA Tour during the 2025 season.
After undergoing yet more back surgery after the 2024 Open Championship, Woods has been competing in the TGL and posting some impressive numbers in the tech-infused league.
The 49-year-old was scheduled to feature at last weekend’s Genesis Invitational. However, Woods withdrew at short notice after the sad passing of his mother, Kultida.
Woods did feature in Jupiter Links GC’s TGL defeat on Tuesday evening and was quizzed during his post-match press duties on when he could return.
Tiger Woods responds when asked about PGA Tour return

Next up on the PGA Tour schedule is the Mexico Open before the Cognizant Classic begins at PGA National on February 27.
With the Cognizant Classic, formerly the Honda Classic, in Palm Beach, Florida, Woods taking part is not out of the question. What’s more, the 15-time major winner has competed at PGA National before and finished runner-up in 2012.
However, when asked about the possibility of his 2025 PGA Tour debut happening next week, Woods admitted his focus was away from on-course matters.
“I really haven’t thought about golf, so I don’t think I’m going to be thinking about it for just a little bit here,” he said.
When Tiger Woods could return to the PGA Tour
Given his comments after the TGL on Tuesday evening, Woods taking to the course at PGA National next week seems unlikely.
So, when exactly could the 49-year-old return to the professional scene?
Looking at the PGA Tour schedule, the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill feels like a suitable return date for the former world number one. Woods has won eight times at the iconic Florida venue and knows how to navigate the course when he is not at his best.
The Players Championship immediately follows the fourth Signature Event of the year. However, with Woods not eligible, it remains to be seen whether he will commit to playing and be granted an exemption.

Tiger Woods injury concern at Torrey Pines
Despite committing to playing more in 2025, Mark Immelman was concerned about Woods after seeing him walk on the driving range at Torrey Pines last weekend.
“He was out on the range before play, and he was walking with a noticeable limp,” he said.

“I’m not trying to dramatise, but you know, he hasn’t played in a while, and I’ve watched him at TGL, and he looks okay, but you can certainly see how he’s favouring the one leg. And I looked at this and thought maybe it’s a little rougher than what he’s leading people to believe. I feel like he’s out for a bit still.”
