The TGL has provided Tiger Woods with an opportunity to improve his game and, perhaps, reach a level where he can compete against the PGA Tour’s elite once more.
After undergoing back surgery in September, the 15-time major winner missed the Hero World Challenge in Albany – the annual invite-only event he hosts.
However, Woods returned to the course at the PNC Championship alongside his son Charlie. Although, the 49-year-old wasn’t overly enthusiastic about the state of his game. “Very rusty. I don’t have my feels, and my trajectory is off, and my shot shapes,” Woods said back in December.
Clearly, Woods will announce his long-awaited return to the PGA Tour once he feels his game is ready to compete.
Tiger Woods posts impressive TGL numbers

Before the TGL, fans were impressed by Woods’ swing after footage of the 15-time major winner emerged from the SoFi Centre.
Now, with some hard data emerging from the TGL matches, Woods will be pleased with some of the numbers he’s posted, particularly off the tee.
During Jupiter Links Golf Club’s win over Boston Common Golf Club, Woods reached 181mph ball speed with his driver. For context, Rory McIlroy‘s first tee shot saw the Northern Irishman clock 189mph. The average ball speed for a PGA Tour player with a driver is around 170mph. McIlroy, of course, is one of the game’s longest hitters.
When will Tiger Woods return to the PGA Tour?
Woods is yet to commit to any PGA Tour events in 2025, but if there’s one tournament where he would return, it’s the upcoming Genesis Invitational.
The former world number one has often attempted to play the Genesis regardless of his physical condition. But with the tournament now set to be played at Torrey Pines rather than Riviera Country Club, Woods may refrain from rushing back into the professional scene.
