LIV Golf has had its critics over the years since its inception but every so often, even those who you might least expect to jump to its defence have to get involved and that’s exactly what Tiger Woods’ former coach, Hank Haney, has now done.
LIV has had its fair share of success stories since coming to the table but while big events in Adelaide and Bryson DeChambeau’s US Open win are huge stories, they continue to be criticised for certain aspects.
One of the problems LIV has come under fire for is its apparent lack of viewers through TV ratings.
Despite its pledge to ‘grow the game’, LIV has struggled to attract good TV numbers and while LIV spiked in Adelaide again this year, it has remained behind the PGA Tour in terms of viewers.
However, while the numbers aren’t quite up to PGA Tour levels, there have been some suggestions that simply nobody is bothering to watch LIV.
And according to Hank Haney, that’s simply not the case.

Hank Haney responds to suggestions nobody is watching LIV Golf
Hank Haney is never afraid to voice his opinion on matters around golf and he’s a regular contributor to the discussion points via his social accounts.
Now, after seeing news of LIV signing a deal in Asia to broadcast to around 94 million homes, Haney has called out those who suggest there are no eyeballs on LIV.
LIV Golf relying on big followings around the world
There is definitely a place for LIV Golf in the world and while ever they have major stars like Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm, they are going to get people watching.
However, it might be that they have to make the worldwide part of their product their USP.
At the moment, it feels like LIV in Europe, the UK and even in the USA has not hit the heights they wanted.
However, in the Far East, Central America and Australia, they seem to have found something that the PGA Tour hasn’t yet delivered on.
Over time, it will be interesting to see if LIV go all in on this sort of audience and leave the PGA Tour to mop up the USA and UK markets as they always have done.
