For many who watch the game of golf, comparing the crowds at a LIV Golf event to that of a major championship is a night and day thing.

The LIV tour has struggled at times to get crowds in, especially on TV, and while events like Adelaide and Mexico have drawn good numbers on course, other events have fallen a bit flatter.

Of course, there is plenty of star power on LIV and Bryson DeChambeau is very much at the top of that star power ladder.

A two-time major winner, DeChambeau has been there and done it all and after winning the US Open in 2024 and coming close at The Masters last month, he knows how to get a crowd involved.

Now, though, DeChambeau has made an intriguing comment when it comes to comparing the crowds at LIV and The Masters.

Bryson DeChambeau says why LIV Golf crowds help him in the majors

DeChambeau is over at LIV South Korea at the moment and as usual, is hot property when it comes to the media.

The American was inundated with questions ahead of the opening round today and when asked about the atmosphere at Augusta National and certain LIV events, DeChambeau suggested that LIV has helped him prepare for the big ones.

“It’s got to be upwards of a couple thousand now for sure, but it’s great. The Korean fans out here have been fantastic. Nothing but super sweet and nice. It’s definitely appreciated when I come to a new place for the first time and see the amount of fans wanting an autograph, kids lighting up. That’s what makes my day. It’s certainly awesome, and that’s why I play the game of golf,” DeChambeau replied when asked about how many autographs he’d signed.

Then, he was asked specifcially about the crowds and in particular, The Masters.

“In regards to that, I feel like this is sometimes a little bit more amplified in certain scenarios. It’s very similar, which makes me comfortable actually in major championship settings,” DeChambeau admitted.

“I think every event is a little more elevated in regards to the noise level and the hustle bustleness. So when you go play a major, like even the Masters or the U.S. Open, you’re going to see some rowdiness out there. They want to see competitiveness and fire. They’re going to be cheering you on.

So I feel like it’s very good prep going into these majors. It’s definitely been helpful the past couple years for me. I’ve been playing a lot better in them.

“So it’s my duty, as not only a professional golfer, but a bit of an entertainer, to interact and be as authentic as I possibly can be with myself and with my fans. I think it’s my responsibility to do so. I’ll continue to keep doing that because that’s what I believe in.”

DeChambeau spoke on Rory McIlroy in the same presser as he discussed their differences, before going on to further big up the event in Korea.

Can Bryson DeChambeau keep delivering for LIV Golf?

LIV Golf has plenty of top players in their ranks but when it comes the one who constantly pushes the envelope and brings the most attention, Bryson DeChambeau is the main man.

The big question for LIV going into the future is whether Bryson and Bryson alone will be enough for the tour to keep enough momentum and popularity.

Right now, his YouTube presence and the fact he is clearly just loving life is infectious and it is great to see him interact with so many young fans.

However, there might come a time when DeChambeau wants to do more than just be that person and eventually, shift back towards the PGA Tour.

From the LIV side, it’s imperative they keep him around or they risk losing any sort of momentum they’ve built.
