Tiger Woods has been speaking to the press at Valhalla and it wasn’t long before questions about LIV Golf and the PGA Tour board came up.
Woods is one of the most influential members on the PGA board in terms of players and his name has been in the news recently amid potential disagreements with Rory McIlroy over golf’s future.
The 15-time major winner is thought to have one of the biggest voices in the room when it comes to how the game is shaped for the future.
As we know, McIlroy is no longer on the PGA player’s board and has been pushing for a deal to be done between LIV, the PIF and the PGA Tour to better the game on a worldwide scale.
Woods, though, is thought to have a slight difference of opinion along with Patrick Cantlay and Jordan Spieth.
And speaking on McIlroy today, Woods was asked by the press just what those disagreements are.

Tiger Woods addresses rumours of Rory McIlroy rift
Speaking in his interview ahead of playing in the PGA Championship this week, Woods was asked about a potential disagreement with McIlroy but insisted everyone is pulling in the same direction.
“I think we see…it’s good to see things differently. But collectively, as a whole, we want to see whatever is best for all the players, fans, and the state of golf,” Woods said.
“How we get there is still to be determined. But we’re in this together, in this fight together to make golf better and that’s what it’s all about.”
Woods will always have one of the biggest says
Having been on top of the game since the 90s and still one of the biggest names in the entire world of sport, it’s just commonly accepted that Woods will have a big say in golf’s future.
Clearly, he has a big influence on the PGA side of things and in fairness to Woods, he has helped grow the game so much in the last three decades that he probably deserves that influence.
Talk of a rift with Rory is probably being over-egged in some ways as well. Woods and McIlroy seem just fine when in public together and at the end of the day, there’s nothing wrong with a difference in opinion.
In the end, something will be worked out and it doesn’t matter what McIlroy says, Tiger Woods will have a greater influence than any golfer on those decisions.
