If you’re one of Tiger Woods’ children and you’re heading out to play some golf, then the odds are that there’s going to be attention and pressure on your shoulders.

That’s what Charlie Woods has experienced the last few years as he’s teed it up alongside his superstar father at the PNC Championship.

This weekend, Charlie and Tiger are actually producing the goods and they hold a joint lead going into the second round.

Tiger has said Charlie has yet to beat him over 18 holes but with both showing flashes of class at the PNC, that time could be coming soon.

However, the main aspect of golf that Charlie can learn off of his Dad is about pressure. And according to Tiger, it’s a completely different situation for the younger Woods.

Tiger Woods says if Charlie is under more pressure than him

Speaking to the media after he and Charlie topped the leaderboard in round one, Woods was asked about the pressure on Charlie and if it was bigger for him.

And going into ‘Dad mode’ and speaking from experience, Tiger suggested it’s worse for Charlie.

“No. It’s a different time and era. I didn’t have this much attention. As you said, I met Jack that day, but also I met Byron Nelson for the first time that day, as well. That was a great day back in those days. I warmed up for Jack, and I had to get back for my high school match that afternoon,” Woods said.

“That’s what Charlie is doing. He’s playing golf with us, and then playing the high school matches.

“The type of attention is very different than what I had. We didn’t have social media. We didn’t have camera phones. We didn’t have any of that. It was kind of hearsay amongst neighbours. It was a different time and era.”

What is Tiger and Charlie’s record at the PNC Championship?

The dynamic duo have been teeing it up together at the PNC ever since 2020 but remarkably, have to yet to win the event.

However, the Woods crew haven’t fallen flat either. Tiger and Charlie finished seventh on debut – when Charlie was just 11 – before they improved to come in as runners up in 2021 behind John Daly and his son.

From there, they’ve finished in a tie for 8th and 5th respectively, seeing Vijay Singh and Bernhard Langer win out in the last two years.

This year, though, the Woods family are well positioned to win out and it would surely rank up there for Tiger as one of his most memorable wins.
