The official world golf rankings are one of the hot topics in golf at the moment with how LIV Golf players simply don’t qualify for points.
The OWGR has come in for criticism due to that fact and just this weekend, LIV star Bryson DeChambeau dropped out of the top ten.
Quite what the future holds for the OWGR and how it determines who can play in what event, remains to be seen.
However, it’s not just the LIV players who are tumbling down the standings at the moment either.
Indeed, according to the latest release of the top players in the world right now, three-time major winner Jordan Spieth has dropped to a three-year low.

Jordan Spieth drops below the top 50 as OWGR latest published
According to the latest rankings released by OWGR, former Masters winner Spieth has now dropped down the rankings to below the top 50.
Spieth has had a bit of a disastrous 2024 and ultimately, he’s had to go and get surgery to be ready for the next season.
Spieth’s form over the course of the last 12 months has left a lot to be desired.
Despite finishing sixth and third in the opening few events of the season, Spieth’s wrist injury ultimately caught up with him throughout 2024 and he managed only more top ten throughout the year.
With a Ryder Cup year coming up, Spieth will be desperate to rediscover some form and at least put himself in with a chance of being selected.
Spieth can return and challenge
Jordan Spieth is still young enough to make more of his career but even if he never wins another event, he’s still done more than most can dream of.
Winning three majors and being one away from the career grand slam is quite something and if his surgery has worked, then you wouldn’t bet against him producing the goods one more time at least.
Golf is a better place when all the best players in the world are at their best.
Spieth is indeed one of the top players in the world and it would be nice to see him back to his 2015 version and really challenging the likes of Scottie Scheffler.
