With the PGA Tour season for 2024 in the bag, eyes will be turning to 2025 and what could be a huge year for the game in general.
It’s a Ryder Cup year for a start and golf fans from Europe and the USA will be eagerly anticipating the drama of Bethpage Black.
Beyond that, we’ve got the four majors to battle over, the LIV Golf schedule which looks set to be even better, and of course, the ongoing issues off the course between LIV and the PGA.
Still, while those off-course issues might dominate proceedings too much at times, there’s plenty to be excited about on the course.
Can anyone catch Scottie Scheffler?
Last year saw Scottie Scheffler dominate proceedings and finish top of the pile, while Xander Schauffele was a clear second after winning two majors.
Behind those two, it was pretty close as the likes of Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa played excellent golf.
Going into 2025, then, it looks like Scheffler is the man to beat.
But with so much talent in golf, we at the Golfing Gazette thought it would be fun to predict the top THREE players on the PGA Tour next year – in no particular order.
And we think, despite not committing to an order, that one European star could be the man to beat.
Predicting the top three PGA Tour players in 2025
Rory McIlroy
With 2024 being a year of near-misses on the big stage for Rory McIlroy, we think 2025 might be the year it finally comes together.
This past 12 months has seen his relationship at home on the rocks and other distractions such as the talk about LIV.
However, he has sorted the off-course issues now, distanced himself from LIV conversations, and seems in a good place.
With the Race to Dubai still to come to finish his season fully and then a winter to get into the groove, 2025 could well be McIlroy’s year to finally get that fifth major and top the standings again.

Ludvig Aberg
The Swedish sensation very nearly won the Masters at his first attempt and the world of golf feels like they’re seeing a superstar in the making.
Aberg shone for Europe in the Ryder Cup in 2023 and then his 2024 saw him look even better.
Indeed, but for the brilliance of Scottie Scheffler, he would have won the green jacket and wrote himself into the history books.
Aberg finished sixth this year and with more experience under his belt, 2025 could be huge for him.

Scottie Scheffler
There’s just no way you can do a top three on the PGA Tour and not go with Scottie Scheffler as one of the picks.
Scheffler’s sheer dominance in 2024 proved to everyone just how good he is and then he went on to succeed at both the Olympics and the Presidents Cup to further show his class.
In simple terms, if someone comes out above Scottie next year, then there’s a high chance they top the standings.
However, as it is right now, Scheffler is not slowing down and despite a stunning 2024, he’ll be desperate to add more majors to his tally in the next 12 months.
