Scottie Scheffler has had a pretty remarkable year by anyone’s standards it’s safe to say there’s been plenty of standout moments.
Scheffler carded multiple wins in signature events, picked up a second green jacket at Augusta, and finished with tens of millions in the bank after winning the FedEx.
And as if all that wasn’t enough, Scheffler has since been announced as Rory McIlroy’s partner to take on Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in December.

But further still, Scheffler did something in 2024 that not many can claim to have done. And that’s win an Olympic Gold medal.
Scheffler battled hard in Paris to win out in the end ahead of Tommy Fleetwood and Hideki Matsuyama.
And discussing the Olympics in general and what Scheffler’s gold will mean, European legend Thomas Bjorn has made a prediction for when Scheffle retires.

Bjorn was speaking to the press about the Olympics and in particular, Scheffler.
And the Swede has suggested that in years to come, Scheffler will look back on his gold medal with immense pride.
“It was an amazing two weeks. I think golf now is — I said in Paris I think it’s great that golf that it’s part of the Olympics, but I also think it’s great for the Olympics that golf is part of it,” Bjorn said.
“Watching the week, watching the greatest players male and female taking part and seeing how important it is to them and seeing Scottie with tears down his face winning a gold medal. He’s won so many things this year.
“I think when he looks back at his career he’ll look at that as one of the greatest moments in his career. To watch that, I look back and I go, in my career and being from the country I’m from, I’d probably have played four or five Olympics if it’s always been on there.
“That’s one thing that I feel somewhat sad about, that it was never part of the Olympics when I played my best. Also look at and try and install in our young players, that the Olympics should be very much at the forefront of our minds.”
Scheffler may never win gold again
The good thing about golf and the four majors is that they come around every year so if you fluff your lines one time, you are likely to get another attempt just 12 months later.
With the Olympics, it’s once every four years and while Scottie Scheffler is going nowhere anytime soon, a lot can change over four years.

Put simply, Scheffler might never get the opportunity to win gold ever again and that’s why it is so special as a medal and victory.
All the Olympians aspire to win just so they can call themselves the best, it’s never about money or other outside interferences.
Scheffler, then, has done something in Paris that very few will ever achieve and that is why it’s so special.
