Nelly Korda was clearly in awe of Tiger Woods when she spent a day alongside him filming for Taylor Made.

Korda famously asked Woods for a photo at the PNC Championship back in December, and that proved just how much she idolises the 49-year-old.

Woods holds the record for most time at the top of the world rankings in the men’s game, with an incredible 281 weeks consecutively spent as World No.1.

Korda has held the top spot in women’s golf for 55 weeks consecutively so far, and she won five tournaments in a row in 2024.

The 26-year-old Floridian is able to overpower golf courses in the way that Woods did back in the day.

The 49-year-old has 15 major championships to his name, whilst Korda has won two of the premier prizes in women’s golf.

So the two golfers can obviously relate to one another.

Both athletes are part of team Taylor Made, and the 15-time major champion did something that blew Korda away, during a promotional day on the practice ground.

Shot Tiger Woods hit in practice made Nelly Korda immediately call him The Goat

Woods is well known for commanding huge respect from his peers.

The likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and many more all refer to the 82-time PGA Tour winner as ‘The Goat’.

It’s little wonder as to why, given the manner in which Woods dominated the sport from the late 1990’s all the way through to the late 2000’s.

He holds legendary status in the game, and rightly so.

Korda is the latest professional golfer to be left genuinely in awe by something that Woods did:

That shot was truly incredible, and there aren’t many players in the game who could pull it off, even during practice!

Why Korda’s golf equipment shocked Woods

One of the first times that Woods met Korda, he began looking through her golf bag.

And Woods was stunned when he saw Korda’s wedges:

“It was funny actually Tiger was looking at my irons and he said ‘Jeez, these are really upright’. I was like ‘yeah’. And he was like ‘no wonder you hit a draw!’ So it helps my draw as well.”

When golf clubs are more upright, they encourage a draw shape because the face is slightly open at impact.

This means the path of the ball will begin out to the right, with the attack angle of the swing coming from the inside.

It is also common for taller players to have more upright lie angles on their clubs, so it’s little wonder why Korda has made that particular change to her equipment.
