The top 30 FedExCup players will battle it out at East Lake Golf Club at the Tour Championship this week.

Six players have qualified for the Presidents Cup ahead of the Tour Championship, with Scottie Scheffler planning to play East Lake before the latter event gets underway.

The field is set for the FedExCup Playoffs finale, with the St Jude Championship and BMW Championship having been and gone.

It is Scheffler who will begin the Tour Championship on top on 10 under, with a two shot lead over Xander Schauffele.

Hideki Matsuyama and Keegan Bradley – winners of the St Jude and BMW – start in third and fourth respectively.

Xander Schauffele has a fantastic record at East Lake

But they could be threatened by two players elsewhere in the standings given their success at East Lake in recent seasons.

According to Justin Ray, Xander Schauffele has the best cumulative score to par at East Lake since 2017 with 85 under, followed by Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy, both with 55 under.

Can Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas shine at the Tour Championship?

World number two Schauffele is Scheffler’s nearest rival in the points list, and given his form is the player with arguably the best chance of catching him.

He should be full of confidence heading into East Lake given his record there, with the American finishing second at the 2023 Tour Championship.

But also looking to use their records from Atlanta will be Thomas and McIlroy, with the latter having finished fourth last time out.

The Northern Irishman heads into the Tour Championship sixth in the points list on four under, having recovered well from his St Jude nightmare at the BMW.

And having missed the playoffs by one shot in 2023, Thomas has just about made the cut this time, with the American sitting bottom of the 30-strong field and starting on even par.
