Bryson DeChambeau is preparing diligently ahead of the US Open at Oakmont next week.

Oakmont is a golf course which is said to be a perfect fit for DeChambeau, as he hunts down his third US Open trophy.

The 31-year-old American has firmly established himself as one of the biggest draws in golf over the past couple of years, if not the biggest.

Phil Mickelson said on Wednesday that it has been ‘remarkable’ to witness what DeChambeau has done for the game.

The two-time US Open champion has been in exceptional form in 2025 on the whole.

DeChambeau has been driving the ball longer and straighter than ever this year.

And he should stand a great chance of winning at Oakmont next week.

What Bryson DeChambeau shot during practice round at Oakmont ahead of the US Open

DeChambeau took a trip to Pennsylvania last Saturday to conduct a scouting mission at Oakmont.

The Henry Fownes design is expected to be one of the toughest tests the players will have ever faced at a US Open.

However, DeChambeau is someone who should be perfectly suited to the 7,400 plus par 70 layout.

His prodigious length off the tee and impressive short game is the ideal recipe for success at Oakmont.

But how did he get on in his practice round last week?

DeChambeau shot a round of level-par 70 which included five birdies, five bogeys and eight pars.

The trough was incredibly thick, but the LIV Golf star avoided it on the most part. He did struggle with the pace of the greens though.

The USGA will get them rolling a lot quicker by the time the tournament begins next week, that’s for sure.

Bryson DeChambeau’s last six major finishes

DeChambeau has been in superb form in the biggest tournaments in world golf over the past 18 months or so.

The American has contended in every single major aside from the Open Championship at Royal Troon last year.

PGA Championship 20242
US Open 2024Won

It would surprise nobody if DeChambeau was in contention again next week at Oakmont.

He certainly has the game needed to contend. However, whether his iron play stands up to the pressure remains to be seen.
