Aside from Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau is very much the man of the moment in professional golf right now.

Scottie Scheffler may well have something to say about that but as things stand, there is nobody on the PGA Tour or LIV Golf who can light a candle to DeChambeau when it comes to generating excitement for the fans.

He is so in form that many pundits and fans are tipping him to be victorious at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in two week’s time.

Johnson Wagner suggested that the PGA Championship venue is set up perfectly for DeChambeau, what with the long rough and the sheer length of the golf course.

Quail Hollow is over 7,500 yards long, and it can be stretched out even longer if needed.

McIlroy and Scheffler will undoubtedly be the top two favourites for the PGA Championship.

However, it will surprise nobody if DeChambeau heads into the week at Quail Hollow as the third favourite to win the tournament.

Bryson DeChambeau will be a threat to win the PGA Championship

It goes without saying that DeChambeau has the skillset needed to win around tough golf courses.

He already has two US Open titles to his name after all.

However, something just seems different about him this season – he is a far more complete, all round player for a start.

The 31-year-old seems to be overpowering courses week in, week out, without even swinging to his maximum potential as far as speed is concerned.

Pat Perez said on Saturday that he has never seen anyone hit a driver like DeChambeau is right now.

And he’s spot on. There is a lot to be said for carrying the ball 330 yards through the air.

However, the 31-year-old two-time major champion has added another string to his bow that could take him to the next level.

DeChambeau’s incredible driving stats with one big improvement

Since joining LIV, it could actually be argued that DeChambeau has become a better all round player.

He is one of only two players to have won a major since joining LIV from the PGA Tour, alongside Brooks Koepka.

DeChambeau has been in contention almost every week this season, it seems. He’s still waiting for his first win of 2025, but that obviously isn’t too far away.

And there’s a big reason why he has been so successful this season.

Not only is DeChambeau crushing it off the tee, but he has also found a way to hit the ball a lot straighter.

In addition to those impressive numbers on LIV, he hit 78.57% of the fairways during The Masters at Augusta National three weeks ago, and ended up in a tie for 15th in that statistical category.

That is quite clearly a lethal combination, and one that will stand DeChambeau in great stead heading into the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow later this month.
