Ladies and gentlemen welcome back to the green expanse of Augusta National Golf Club, where the echoes of yesterday’s triumphs and challenges still linger in the morning air. As the sun rises over the towering pines, anticipation builds for another exhilarating day of the Masters Golf Competition.

Yesterday, viewers were treated to a fine show, but it was Bryson DeChambeau who set the round one pace. The LIV golfer topped the opening-day leaderboard at Augusta National.

But there is a long way to go. Anything can change.

Key storylines to follow on day two of The Masters

Can Bryson DeChambeau keep up the momentum?

Bryson DeChambeau beat his personal par by two shots to get his Masters 2024 campaign off to a flyer.

DeChambeau bagged himself a seven-under-par 65 on the opening day which has propelled him up the rankings as one to really take seriously over the next couple of days.

But that was only good enough for a one-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler – who is ready to pounce on day two…

Or will Scottie Scheffler take over?

Scheffler is still the firm favourite to win the entire competition. The world number one rode his luck briefly around Amen Corner, but he still oozed class on the green and remains well within touching distance of that top spot.

There is a long way to go, but the American will be desperate for a great second round of play to further reinstate he’s not to be messed with on the luscious greens of Augusta.

How is Tiger Woods feeling?

How will Tiger Woods be able to handle a stop-and-start day? Woods will put his body through its toughest physical test in many years when he faces a marathon Friday at Augusta.

It will be the first time Woods has played more than 18 holes on the same day in a tournament competition since November 2019 – which has left many questioning if he’s up to the task. Could he even win it? He isn’t so sure.

He performed well on day one, although he found it difficult: “It was one of the most tricky days that I’ve ever been a part of,” Woods told reporters. “The wind was all over the place. It was hard to get a beat not only on what direction it was going, but the intensity, and it kept switching. It was a very difficult day.”

Augusta weather for The Masters day two

After some not-so-great conditions on the first day of play which forced a different start time, the Friday looks somewhat similar. It brings more gusty winds, which will definitely play a part in the proceedings.
