Everyone in golf knows that Scottie Scheffler is the best player in the world right now but it seems he’s been destined for greatness right from the very start of his PGA Tour career.

Scheffler dominated in 2024 and won The Masters for a second time to put in one of the finest bodies of work over a 12 month period we’ve ever seen in golf.

Scheffler broke a number of records throughout the season and going into 2025, he’ll be one of the favourites to win the majors and more.

As we know, in golf, anything can happen, right from the amateur game all the way up to the top events in the world with the best players.

One of the holy grail’s most golfer’s seek is a hole-in-one. A number of pros have never even had one, while you can find amateurs who have had multiple. That’s just how it can be sometimes, and there’s an element of luck involved at times.

However, sometimes, there’s more than luck involved and going back to Scheffler, he showed his potential and class by making an ace in his first EVER PGA Tour event.

How Scottie Scheffler made a hole-in-one in his first ever PGA Tour event

Going all the way back to 2014, a young Scottie Scheffler was given an exemption into the Byron Nelson after winning the U.S. Junior Amateur title.

But unlike most teenagers in a huge event, Scheffler did not freeze and took it all in his stride, including making a hole-in-one.

As reported by ESPN at the time, Scheffler hit his ace on the second hole of round three, smashing a 5-iron to a green over 220 yards away to make memorable ace.

At the time, Scheffler was going with a 4-iron before his sister, caddying for him at the time, talked him into taking the 5-iron.

The rest, as they say, is history and from there, Scheffler has developed further and further to become the biggest and best player in golf right now.

Who has the most hole-in-ones in PGA Tour history?

Records have been taken on the PGA Tour since 1983 and since then, two men stand at the top of the pile for hole-in-ones.

Those two men are Robert Allenby and Hal Sutton, who have both knocked in ten aces in their careers.

Of the more active modern players or well-known faces in the game, Phil Mickelson is on the list with five, while Matt Kuchar also matches that figure.

For reference, Tiger Woods has hit three in his PGA career, while Scheffler has managed just the one since his effort as an amateur.

Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, has just the one on the PGA Tour and that came as recently as 2023, albeit he does have another in Dubai on the European Tour from 2015.
