Will Wilcox caddies on the PGA Tour for Sungjae Im, and he was following Scottie Scheffler in practice at Quail Hollow ahead of The PGA Championship.
Scheffler is being tipped to win The PGA Championship this week, and it’s little wonder as to why.
Despite only having won once this season, the 28-year-old American has dominated in all of the ball-striking categories, and he has been pretty solid with the putter in his hands as well.
Rory McIlroy is the only player who can hold a candle to the two-time Masters champion when he’s on song.
And Brandel Chamblee has actually tipped Scheffler to win The PGA Championship at a canter.

If that happens, nobody would be surprised, and that’s the best compliment anyone could give him.
Sungjae Im’s caddie noticed something about Scottie Scheffler ahead of The PGA Championship
Wilcox was a guest on the Dan on Golf podcast ahead of the PGA at Quail Hollow this week.
The experienced caddie and his man Sungjae Im were playing behind Scheffler during a practice round at Quail Hollow on Wednesday.
And Wilcox made an observation about the number one golfer in the world.
He said, “I got a great face-on of him today. He played in the group in front of us. It is just unbelievable to watch how flexible he is and how he gets up there and how his head does not turn much either, even though he has all that wind up.“

Dan Rapaport then said, “It’s almost like his golf swing is so good that they didn’t even try to teach that way because most people’s bodies can’t do that.
“I will talk to some swing instructors, and this was more last year, when he was really starting to go and I was like what do you guys think about Scottie’s swing and every one of them was like unbelievable. Don’t touch it. It might not look the way that a classic Adam Scott golf swing looks like, but having that face stability through the hitting zone, they are obsessed with it.
Before Wilcox finished up by saying, “Good for him [Randy Smith] for never wanting to tinker with it. So many people get lost in the weeds of your feet, remember when we were kids they told you staple your feet to the ground, you want them to be solid, that is the opposite of what people learn now.“
Scheffler’s footwork is often deceiving. If you take that out of the equation, his club stays on an ideal path and his club face remains perfectly square between address and impact throughout the swing.
Who is better, Scheffler or McIlroy?
Scheffler and McIlroy are the two best golfers in the world right now, by quite some margin as well.
However, if both of them were on their very best form, who would come out on top?
Former PGA champion Mark Brooks suggested that Scheffler’s ‘A’ game is indeed better than ‘McIlroy’s.
He said, “Scottie’s my pick. I mean, at this moment in time, I mean, it’s a great rivalry that’s brewing, between him and Rory.
“Scottie and Rory, they’re wildly different people. Wildly different, which I think makes it even more compelling.
“But Scottie’s the favourite right now. Scottie’s A game beats Rory’s A game right now.”
That’s a fair point from Brooks, although I would argue that McIlroy’s best is actually superior to Scheffler’s.
However, the 28-year-old Dallas native is far more consistent, and I believe if they played each other 100 times, Scheffler would come out on top in 60 of those matches.
