Four of golf’s biggest names will go head-to-head next month, with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler taking on Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
McIlroy meets DeChambeau at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, with the pair having played out a thrilling US Open battle at Pinehurst earlier this year.
The team competition is scheduled for December 17, pitting two leading PGA Tour aces against two LIV Golf stars.
The made-for-TV event comes at a crucial time for golf, with the two tours having failed to reach an agreement on a merger.
Golf fans are split on the Scheffler versus DeChambeau clash, which draws comparisons to ‘The Match’ that has involved Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau to play for at least $10million
Las Vegas’ Shadow Creek hosted their high-profile meeting in 2018, with the same venue now welcoming four of the biggest current names.
And Front Office Sports has now reported the prize money involved in next month’s match, with a purse of at least $10million at play.

Interestingly, the winnings will be paid in crypto, although it is uncertain how the eight-figure purse will be distributed.
The foursome will need to have the correct crypto accounts to receive the money, although there are no obligations to hold the cryptocurrency for any period of time, with the players able to sell or trade the funds however they wish.
Will Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau address PGA Tour and LIV Golf?
Given the nature of the contest and indeed the venue, a large purse was always a possibility, but this is truly a staggering amount.
And thanks to their fantastic career achievements thus far, none of the players involved need any more money at this stage, but they will still welcome this figure with open arms.

Their reasons behind getting involved will likely never be known, but they would, of course, have been foolish to turn down one round for such money, even if it is crypto.
Fans will perhaps be desperate for McIlroy and Scheffler to quiz DeChambeau and Koepka about LIV Golf, but that scenario seems unlikely.
