Blades Brown played alongside world number one Scottie Scheffler during the final round of the American Express on Sunday.
Brown and Scheffler began the final round of the American Express on 21-under-par, one shot behind the leader, Si Woo Kim.
Blades Brown was excited to play with Scottie Scheffler on Sunday at the American Express, and it must have been a truly incredible experience for the 18-year-old.
The teenager from Brentwood, Tennessee, showcased his exceptional talent in the desert this week in what was only his 10th PGA Tour start.
How many PGA Tour events and majors will Blades Brown go on to win in his career?
He's a seriously special talent…
Scheffler praised Brown’s talent before the American Express final round but the 29-year-old was all business as he stepped onto the first tee on Sunday.
In Scheffler’s last 10 events where he held the lead or was within one of the lead when entering final round he has won every single time.
We are currently seeing levels of dominance not witnessed since Tiger Woods‘ prime years.
But what did Brown make of Scheffler after seeing him up close and personal on Sunday?
Blades Brown comments on Scottie Scheffler’s behavior at the American Express
Scheffler romped away to a four-shot victory at the American Express in the end, and young Blades Brown would have learned an invaluable lesson from the world number one.
Brown made an appearance on the Smylie Show Podcast after the final round of the American Express.
He was asked what it was like to play alongside Scheffler in the heat of battle.
“No, Scottie, was great,“ Brown admitted.
“I mean, I tried to not, you know, be a distraction for him. I was trying to be respectful of his space.
“But, no, I mean, my interactions with Scottie today were awesome.

“Like, I remember I made a putt for birdie on hole two, and he’s grinding, I think he just missed a par putt, and he was like, ‘hey, good putt there‘.
“And I could tell that, you know, he generally meant, like, ‘hey, good shot there‘. So it’s, I have all positive things to say about Scottie Scheffler.
“I mean, I had to pinch myself a couple of times, because I’m like, ‘I’ve seen this guy so many times on TV, and I’m now playing around with him on the PGA Tour‘.
“So, I was speechless playing today with Scottie Scheffler.“
Brown would have learnt so much just by watching the way that Scheffler operated on Sunday at the Pete Dye Stadium Course.
Blades Brown says what really impressed him about Scottie Scheffler
The current world number one played exquisitely well on Sunday afternoon in La Quinta, California.
Brown was asked whether there was anything in particular that he learned when getting a first-hand glimpse of Scheffler in action.
“Yeah, I mean, well, he had some questionable drives today that I was not expecting,“ Brown admitted.
“I remember hole number nine, he, like, toe-shanked it left, and I’m like, ‘What?‘ And then he hits it to, like, 15 feet.
How many times do you think Scottie Scheffler will win in 2026?
Over or under 4.5…
“And I’m like, ‘Okay, this guy is ridiculous‘.
“But no, I mean, Scottie, he just does everything so effortlessly, and I think that’s what the best do, they make this complicated golf game seem really, really easy.
“Scottie was … I had so much fun playing with him today, and it fires me up to go work on my game.“
Blades Brown will be under no illusions as to how hard it is to win on the PGA Tour, after watching Scottie Scheffler up close and personal.
That’s a good thing, though. As he said, Scheffler’s performance will fire the teenager up to work even harder on his game.
I have a feeling we will see Brown and Scheffler alongside each other in many, many more final groups over the course of the next 15 years or so.
