Keegan Bradley has been on fire during his last two rounds at the Tour Championship, as he looks to make a big statement ahead of his Ryder Cup selections on Wednesday.
And now Bradley has opened up on what happened to him before his third round had even begun at the Tour Championship.
Bradley has been a hugely popular Ryder Cup captain among the American players, with many sharing their appreciation for how he has gone about his business.
However, his focus will firmly be on winning at East Lake now, rather than the upcoming Ryder Cup.
The 39-year-old from Vermont posted a superb round of seven-under par 63 on day three of the Tour Championship, and he is right in the mix heading into the final round.
Bradley admitted earlier in the week at the Tour Championship that he was struggling to detach his role as Ryder cup captain from competing and trying to win golf tournaments.
He said: “This past month has been really difficult. I have had a really tough time detaching from this job this week. I am walking down the fairway and not even thinking about what I’m doing. I am thinking about pairings or what I am going to say to the team at a certain point.
“It has just become very difficult to detach, which I have done a really good job of throughout the year but I am excited for this week to get done so we can get this team together and really get sorted for what we are going to do.”
Keegan Bradley shares what happened before day three at the Tour Championship
Bradley was visibly delighted with his round of 63 on Saturday at East Lake.
The Ryder Cup captain spoke to the media after he walked off the 18th green, and offered some really interesting insight into what his life is like right now.

He was asked why he has been able to play so well this week.
Bradley said: “I have no idea. I was so tired Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I was really just truthfully trying to get through this week. This is a bit surprising, but just I really played spectacularly today. I’m really proud of this round.
“I played good yesterday, but today was like a proper ball-striking round, made the putts. There’s a lot of tough shots coming in here now, especially today with the tee back on 15. So I’m proud of that.“
Bradley was then asked if he practiced less than usual in the build-up to the Tour Championship.
He responded: “Yeah, way less. I was at Bethpage all day Monday and I didn’t get here until 9:00 at night. Played a quick nine, didn’t really do much, and I had a dinner Tuesday night for the team.
“And then Wednesday I had the breakfast for the tournament and played nine holes and went to my room. I didn’t really get the preparation that I thought I needed.
“But it goes to show you that it really means nothing when you come out here and play.“
Bradley was then asked how he has been able to compartmentalize everything this week.
The 39-year-old said: “I’m not sure. I caught myself on the range today thinking about something I wanted to tell the team at Bethpage, and it happens to me throughout the round. I see a guy at the leaderboard and I remember who we’re thinking of pairing him with, and it’s great that they’re playing good, or I wish they were a little higher, whatever it is.
“It’s been a wild year. I’m just trying to tackle what’s in front of me, and I think I’ve done a good job of that.“
Bradley deserves huge credit for producing the quality of golf he has this week, considering just how much he has going on in the background.
Keegan Bradley’s stats from day three of the Tour Championship
Bradley produced some scintillating golf on Saturday at East Lake.
Here is a look at his numbers from the third round of the Tour Championship.
| Stats | Bradley’s rank |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 6 |
| Strokes gained approach | 1 |
| Strokes gained around the green | 18 |
| Strokes gained putting | 6 |
| Strokes gained total | 1 |
Those are some really solid numbers from the Ryder Cup captain.
And if Bradley can emulate that form once again on day four of the Tour Championship, he will surely find it impossible to leave himself off the US Ryder Cup team.
