Rory McIlroy has once again been crowned a PGA Tour champion, edging out Shane Lowry at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Eddie Pepperell says the ‘signs are great’ for McIlroy after his latest PGA Tour win, having finished on 21-under in California.

Lowry finished two shots behind in solo second, with Justin Rose and Lucas Glover one shot behind the Irishman in a tie for third.

McIlroy secured a first Pebble Beach win and a 27th PGA Tour title overall, on what was his first start of the season.

Both McIlroy and Lowry, however, managed to hit a hole-in-one in the opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at the 15th and seventh holes respectively.

Shane Lowry congratulates Rory McIlroy on AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am win

Three-time PGA Tour champion and 2019 Open Championship winner Lowry has now taken to social media to summarise his thoughts on the tournament.

“Reflecting on my week at Pebble Beach… I’m disappointed to fall short of what my ultimate goal was on Sunday but leave proud of how I fought, especially when the going got tough yesterday,” he wrote on X.

“To watch one of my good friends in full flight doing his thing was also pretty cool. Congrats Rory McIlroy. Finally thanks to everyone at AT&T and Pebble Beach for a great week.”

Shane Lowry misses chance to pile pressure on Rory McIlroy at Pebble Beach

Lowry really impressed on what was his second PGA Tour start of the 2025 season, having taken on the Farmers Insurance Open last month.

There he disappointingly missed the cut, but recovered superbly at Pebble Beach amid a star-studded field.

PGA Championship and The Open defending champion Xander Schauffele missed out through injury, but world number one Scottie Scheffler was involved, finishing T9.

Lowry may, however, be left thinking what could have been, having missed a birdie putt on 17 after putting good pressure on McIlroy.

The latter was in formidable form, but the former certainly had a great chance to snatch a win right at the death.

His professionalism has, however, now emerged with his message to close friend McIlroy, while Lowry should be more than content with his rounds of 66, 70, 65 and 68.
