Sergio Garcia was the most high-profile omission from the European Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black.

Garcia has made 10 appearances at the Ryder Cup and scored the most points in history (28.5).

But despite scoring three points at Whistling Straits in 2021, Luke Donald has left him out of both of his European teams.

Garcia was understandably disappointed to miss out on Bethpage Black, but he still sent a message to his comrades.

Sergio Garcia sends message to the European Ryder Cup team

Garcia enjoyed a solid 2025 season on the LIV Golf tour, winning the Hong Kong event in March.

He looked likely to make the European team at that point, but his form dipped in the following months and he was ultimately snubbed.

Before the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black started, Garcia showed support for the European team and expressed his desire to represent them again.

“Tomorrow starts what, in my opinion, is the best tournament in our sport, the Ryder Cup,” Garcia tweeted on Thursday.

“I can’t wait to watch and cheer on Team Europe as they defend the Cup. Hope to be part of the team again in the future! Go Team Europe.”

Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal show support for Team Europe

Athletes and celebrities from around the world sent messages to the United States and European teams ahead of the Ryder Cup.

Perhaps the most notable for the European side were tennis legends Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal, who recorded a video on the golf course together.

“Hello everybody, from the golf course here in Mallorca,” Federer said. “I wanted to wish you all the very best for the Ryder Cup.

“We are behind you, and maybe in the future, we will have a new player on the team (Rafa Nadal).”

Nadal, an excellent golfer himself, also offered some words of encouragement to Team Europe before Bethpage Black.

“I’m a very big fan of golf, so I’m going to enjoy watching you guys a lot. I think it’s going to be amazing. It’s an opportunity to show your best golf.

“I’m sure you’re going to try very hard because we need to win there in New York. All the best. We will be supporting.”
