Sepp Straka pipped Shane Lowry to the Truist Championship title on Sunday, after a relentless four-hour final day battle in Philadelphia.

The final round of the Truist Championship was excellent viewing, as Straka and Lowry battled it out down the stretch at Philadelphia Cricket Club.

Lowry’s three-putt on the final green gifted the PGA Tour signature event title to Straka, and that certainly wasn’t befitting of the great golf that preceded it.

Rory McIlroy hung around to congratulate Straka and console Lowry after the final round had finished.

The Irishman looked disconsolate after making bogey on the final hole of the tournament.

And Lowry has been told that he needs to putt better, if he is to win on the PGA Tour again.

It was no wonder why he was so upset after the way he finished. But what did Straka make of Lowry, and the way that he conducted himself during the final round?

Straka and Lowry know each other very well.

They play alongside each other on the PGA Tour, and were Ryder Cup teammates in Rome back in 2023.

They were paired together for the final round at Philadelphia Cricket Club on Sunday, as they flip-flopped at the top of the leaderboard throughout the day.

The Austrian got the better of the Irishman in the end.

And Straka opened up on his true feelings about Lowry after the final round finished.

He said, Yeah, it was great. Shane’s an awesome guy. He’s one of my favourites too. So it was fun to hear support for him out there.

He’s one of my favourite people to play with. He’s a fiery competitor but a really good friend as well. It was really fun battling with him. Just grateful for him.

Lowry took matters into his own hands after the Truist Championship

The Irishman was clearly distraught after basically handing the tournament to his Ryder Cup teammate on Sunday.

And he made the decision not to speak to reporters after his round had finished.

Lowry demanded change back in April after being forced to speak to the press following an awful finish to his third round at Augusta National.

And the 38-year-old clearly wasn’t in a fit state mentally to bare his soul to the world after three-putting the final green at Philadelphia Cricket Club.

Hopefully Lowry bounces back after missing out on the Truist Championship title to Straka on Sunday. It certainly was a tough way to lose.
