Scottie Scheffler is out on the golf course sending an early message to everyone ahead of 2025 by leading comfortably at the Hero World Challenge.

Scheffler is 13 under through two rounds and sits two strokes ahead of both Akshay Bhatia and Justin Thomas at Tiger Woods’ yearly event.

Remarkably, Scheffler has said he’s just getting going in terms of what he might be able to produce, with the Hero the first event of the season the top players get involved in.

Of course, Scheffler is all about winning. And he might just do that if he carries on in round three and four.

Still, Scheffler is realistic about Albany course and has told the media that there’s still a risk of him dropping shots if he gets it wrong.

Scottie Scheffler makes claim about the Albany course after two rounds of the Hero World Challenge

Speaking to the media after his second round of eight under, Scheffler admitted that while the Albany course was gettable, it could also bite back if he stepped off the gas.

“I mean, I think a lot of it’s keeping the ball in play. Around the greens it can get really challenging. I think I’m a pretty good pitcher of the ball, especially the tough lies that you get around this place. I think over the years here I’ve done a good job of kind of staying patient, waiting to get hot,” Scheffler said.

“There’s some opportunities out here on this golf course, but there’s also some severe punishment. For instance, the front nine today was a time where I got hot and was able to take advantage of it.”

Scheffler winning the Hero World Challenge would be brutal for every other player

It might be a tournament where there’s more to it than just winning due to the charitable aspect involved and the smaller field, but rest assured, it’s one that everyone playing wants to win.

If Scottie Scheffler comes out on top, then it sends an almighty message to the rest of the field ahead of 2025.

Scheffler stepping right back into the swing and winning yet another event will, for some, dent confidence and effectively show that 2025 could be much the same as 2024.

Of course, Scheffler cannot and will not win every event. But the signs are already ominous in terms of his form and with Scheffler stunning fans with a putting change – which seems to have worked – 2025 is already looking good for the world number one.
