Scottie Scheffler finished up his 2024 as many expected he would, by winning the Hero World Challenge and adding yet another trophy to the cabinet.

Scheffler’s victory means he’s now won nine times in 2024 and after beating out Tom Kim by six shots in the Bahamas, the signs are looking ominous for 2025.

Of course, that’s part of the battle and the rest of the field will be keen to chase Scheffler down. That chase is likely to lead to wins if they succeed, and with it, a chance at putting a dent in Scheffler’s remarkable surge.

Incredibly, Scheffler continues to set record after record. Scheffler broke at least five records in the 2024 while at the Hero, Scheffler equalled Tiger Woods’ 36 hole score.

Still, the accolades don’t end there and with the end of 2024 nigh, Scheffler has done something only Tiger Woods and the legendary Vijay Singh have managed.

How Scottie Scheffler joined Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh in golf history

As we all know, Scheffler sits atop the OWGR as world number one and has done so for over a year now.

However, the sheer amount of points Scheffler has racked up at the standout in 2024.

Scheffler has won a whopping 727.5 points in 2024. That means he’s become only the third player ever alongside Woods and Singh to win over 700 in a single season.

The OWGR has been in place since 1986, meaning Scheffler’s year is just one of five among a possible 38 to make the over 700 mark.

Byeong Hun An causes controversy with Scottie Scheffler and Tiger Woods comparison

With the way Scheffler is playing, he is always going to draw comparisons to Tiger and after this weeks’ win at the hero, PGA Tour player Byeong Hun An caused a stir.

An suggested Scheffler’s season was up there with Woods’ best ever, and it caused a bit of a meltdown among some on social media.

However, An is not far wrong really.

Scheffler’s 2024 stats very much hold up against Woods from 2000. In fact, in terms of putting and scoring average, Scheffler actually exceeded Woods.

Going into 2025, then, Scheffler could well end up going one better than Woods again.
