Scottie Scheffler wasn’t able to defend his title at The Masters on Sunday.
Rory McIlroy won The Masters and completed the Grand Slam in the process, whilst Scottie Scheffler finished fourth, three shots back of the Northern Irishman.
Before the final round began at Augusta, and contrary to what many pundits were suggesting, Scottie Scheffler said he needed to be patient if he was to win The Masters.

The 28-year-old American didn’t quite do enough in the end, but a fourth placed finish when he was nowhere near his best proved just how good he is.
Scottie Scheffler confirms exact moment at The Masters when he knew he couldn’t win
Scheffler is still the number one player in the world.
He hasn’t been his usual self this season, but he has finished inside the top-25 in every single event that he has played, and he has four top 10’s as well (PGA Tour website).
Scheffler will undoubtedly be determined to get a win under his belt as quickly as possible so that he can really begin his assault on major season.
And what better place to do just that than at Harbour Town for the RBC Heritage this week.
Scottie was speaking to the press on Tuesday afternoon, and he opened up on how he’s feeling after an incredibly draining week at Augusta National:
“It was an exhausting week, but it takes a lot out of you to win a golf tournament emotionally. On Sunday, yeah, I was in the tournament. It takes a little bit out of you, but the adrenaline you get from actually winning the tournament is a lot different than getting close.
“I’m sitting there on 18 fairway last week, and Rosie was at 10-under. I’m thinking to myself, I’m going at this pin. I’m going to try to hole this, and then he makes it, and you’re like, well, tournament’s over. I lost. Didn’t win, lost, whatever.
“I was looking at Teddy, and I’m like, all right, Teddy, I guess I’m going to aim at the middle of the green now. He’s like, yeah, aim at the middle of the green. Let’s get out of here.

“For instance, if Rosie misses that putt and I hole it, huge adrenaline rush, and that takes something out of you. Kind of like the adrenaline rush you get from getting arrested. It takes something out of you.
(Laughter.)
“As far as being spent, I’m not nearly as spent as I was last year. The party on Sunday looked slightly different than it did last year. I still had fun with friends, but it’s just a different feeling. Last year, for instance, we flew home, was home for a day and a half and traveled and got in an airplane. That takes a toll on your body.
“For instance, this year we hung out at Augusta on Sunday, drove over here yesterday, had some lunch, got some treatment, slept in today. Feel ready to roll.“
Joaquin Niemann thinks one player can overtake Scottie Scheffler
LIV Golf star Joaquin Niemann was speaking to the media ahead of The Masters.
And he suggested that Ludvig Aberg has all the tools to usurp Scottie at the top of the world rankings:
“Him? I think he has everything. He’s like a really, really complete player. He has a really good and really consistent swing. That really pays off when you’re under pressure. Yeah, he has everything to be world No. 1.“
That’s quite the claim. Aberg is obviously a sensationally gifted player, but does he have the ability needed to leap-frog Scottie Scheffler into the world No. 1 spot?
It may well happen at some point in the future but for now, Scheffler’s place at the top of the pile is safe, even from Rory McIlroy!
