Scottie Scheffler didn’t manage to end his 2025 PGA Tour season with a victory at the Tour Championship, but it was still a season to remember for the world number one.

Scheffler has won five times on the PGA Tour this season, including two major championships, but he came up just short at the Tour Championship in the end.

The 29-year-old has been in a class of his own over the past few months, and he has firmly cemented his position at the top of the world rankings.

Scheffler was hugely frustrated at the Tour Championship, and he made plenty of uncharacteristic errors.

However, Scheffler did equal the record for the most consecutive rounds in the 60s, with 21 to his name now.

That said, he was still nowhere near as sharp as he needed to be. It just seems like he’s a little burnt out, and is in desperate need of a rest.

Scheffler has managed to compete at the highest level all season long, recording 16 top-10 finishes in 19 starts.

It was a hugely successful 2025 season for the man from Dallas, Texas.

Now he deserves a well-earned break. However, does he agree with that sentiment?

Scheffler was asked how long he plans to take off now after finishing his final round at East Lake.

He replied: I’ll stay in my normal routine for regular season. I’ll go home, I’ll take a couple days off and then I’ll get back to practicing, get ready for Napa, and then I’ll have another two weeks off, pretty similar routine to get ready for the Ryder Cup.

Scheffler is one of the hardest workers in the game, and after he has taken a couple of days off, he will fully immerse himself back into practice ahead of a vital month of golf ahead.

Scottie Scheffler says if he ever thought about letting his foot off the gas at East Lake

Scheffler is one of the most intense competitors in the game.

In fact, it could be argued that he is the most competitive and highly focused player in the game since Tiger Woods.

After his final round at the Tour Championship, Scheffler was asked if he ever felt like taking his foot off the gas once he knew he wouldn’t be able to win.

He said: You tell me. It’s a lot harder coming in here and answering questions, why did you hit it out of bounds on 1, why did you hit it in the water on 15? I’d rather you say, hey, you just won again. How does that feel? I think that’s a lot more fun than coming in fourth or fifth place.

For me, I take things day by day and week by week. Looking at this week, I felt like I could have been a little sharper the last few days to give myself a better chance. But overall, now I have a little time to reflect on the season, and it was a really good year. I have some stuff that I can try and improve on, and that’s what I’ll start focusing on after the Ryder Cup.

What a superb response by Scheffler. It was one of a winner, and it said a lot about his mentality.

Now his focus will shift towards the Procore Championship in a couple of weeks’ time before it’s all systems go for the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
