Scottie Scheffler was hugely frustrated out on the course at East Lake during his third round of the Tour Championship.
A sign of Scheffler‘s quality, though, was the fact that he still managed to shoot a round of four-under par on day three at the Tour Championship.
The world number one has struggled during his last two rounds, after firing a superb 63 on day one at East Lake.
Scheffler began his third round at the Tour Championship with back-to-back bogeys – the first time he has done that since 2023.
The 29-year-old also managed to record his 20th consecutive round in the 60s.
Scheffler is now one round away from equalling Patrick Cantlay’s PGA Tour record, and he will most likely do just that on Sunday at East Lake.
The man from Dallas, Texas, was not happy at all throughout his round on Saturday and now he has opened up on his frustrations.
Scottie Scheffler admits the reason why he’s been frustrated at the Tour Championship
Scheffler is still well in the race to win the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup.
If he hadn’t have putted so poorly on day three, he would be at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round.

Scheffler spoke to reporters after his round, and responded when asked if he will alter his game plan for the final round, as he looks to make up a four-shot deficit on Tommy Fleetwood and Patrick Cantlay.
He said: “Not really. You look at today, if I get off to — I had the same game plan today. Let’s say I have the same game plan tomorrow; I par the first two holes instead of bogey them and I hole a couple putts, I would have had a pretty special round today if that was the case because I still shot 4-under without really holing anything and getting off to a bad start.
“Without that, I did some good stuff out there. Just got to continue to do that and hole a few more putts.“
He was then asked if the frustration he showed throughout the day was down to his own poor swings or bad breaks.
Scheffler responded: “It’s not bad breaks. I felt like I just was barely off on my reads. Hitting a lot of good putts. Hit the one on — hit a good putt on 12, looked like it hopped off something; burned the edge on 13; made a good one on 15; burned the edge on 16; 17 I hit two good shots in there, I’m putting right across the middle of a spine where the ball is going to break off of it all the way to the hole, so that was tough. Then two good shots into 18. Overall I did some good stuff. I just need to capitalize on it.“
One thing’s for sure, we can all expect Scheffler to come out with the bit between his teeth on Sunday. He hates losing with a passion, and he will be determined to chase down Fleetwood and Cantlay on day four at East Lake.
Scottie Scheffler responds when asked to describe his third round at the Tour Championship
Scheffler was asked by reporters on Saturday evening how he would describe his third round.
The world number one said: “Felt like another frustrating day. I felt like I did some things well out there. I was just a little bit off on my reads most of the day. I hit some good putts that just didn’t fall. Like you said, after the start I did a good job bouncing back and getting back into it. Overall I didn’t shoot myself out of the tournament, which making bogeys around this place can very easily do that.
“Proud of the turnaround, but man, I wish I could have gotten a little bit more out of the round.“
Scheffler’s third round 66 at the Tour Championship easily could have been a 62 on another day.
Had he simply parred his first two holes of the day and putted even to an average standard, he would have been at least eight-under par for his round.
Now, the challenge for Scheffler will be to start his final round in a positive fashion and to put pressure on the leaders right from the very first hole.
