Scottie Scheffler fell short of a successful title defence at The Masters, where Rory McIlroy clinched the green jacket.
McIlroy relied on himself as opposed to copying Scheffler en route to his triumph, which came in the form of a playoff victory over Justin Rose.
Rick Shiels thinks McIlroy can win multiple majors in 2025 after winning The Masters, with the PGA Championship next up at Quail Hollow.
The tournament in North Carolina takes place in May, with the US Open and The Open Championship following in June and July respectively.
Pennsylvania plays host to the former, with McIlroy then back on home soil at Royal Portrush for the latter.

Scottie Scheffler and other top Americans told to up their games before Ryder Cup
In terms of The Masters, however, the Northern Irishman has continued a very strong start to the season for European players.
Discussing that situation as the 2025 Ryder Cup approaches, Johnson Wagner said on The Wagyu Filet Show: “Rory took a shot at the Ryder Cup in the press conference on Sunday.
“He said ‘I’m glad it’s a Euro, it’s a Ryder Cup year and we are looking good’. Rory was on record talking about winning after Rome, he said we are going to win at Bethpage.
“I think for Scottie on a broader, bigger picture. Those top Americans better start answering the call here soon.
“Because they are, honestly, the European team is looking great and you know behind the scenes they have a plan for how to handle Bethpage and the Ryder Cup, we don’t need to get too far ahead of ourselves, we have a long way to go, but Scottie needs to answer.”
Rory McIlroy among European stars winning on the PGA Tour ahead of the Ryder Cup
Europe head to Bethpage Black later this year looking to defend their Ryder Cup title, having won in Rome in 2023.
And they are certainly in a fantastic position to do exactly that, with star man McIlroy already on three PGA Tour wins for the season.
His fellow Europeans Sepp Straka, Ludvig Aberg and Viktor Hovland have all also won in 2025, with that trio having also helped secure the most recent Ryder Cup victory.
At The Masters meanwhile, another European in Rose came second, with American duo Patrick Reed and Scheffler finishing third and fourth respectively.

Scheffler has yet to win this season, although he does remain number one in the world rankings, with McIlroy in second.
That situation will, however, change in the not-too-distant future according to Wagner, who said: “I think Rory will be number one at the end of the year, I do.”
