Rory McIlroy has carved his name into golfing history with his success at The Masters, with the green jacket finally going his way.
McIlroy didn’t copy Scottie Scheffler en route to winning The Masters, which he did thanks to a one-hole playoff success over Justin Rose.
The pair finished on 11-under at Augusta National, with McIlroy having led Bryson DeChambeau by two shots going into Sunday.
Tiger Woods has congratulated McIlroy on his win, which follows his victories at the US Open and The Open Championship and his two at the PGA Championship.
Only Woods, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, and Jack Nicklaus have previously completed the career grand slam.

Rory McIlroy told he has achieved one of golf’s biggest ever milestones after winning The Masters
Rick Shiels is now the latest to share his verdict on the victory, having been asked on The Rick Shiels Golf Show if the floodgates are now open for McIlroy.
“I really think it does,” he said. “I really, really think it does. It’s been 11 years since he has won a major tournament in 2014 at Royal Liverpool.
“I think this year he is going to be a multiple major winner just this year. When you look at the line up. The PGA Championship is taking place at Quail Hollow. He won the PGA Championship there.
“The Open is at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, I honestly think this unlocks him. And I am going to say something quite bold here.
“This is very, very bold – waking up today and following everything on the news and social media. I am putting this down as one of the biggest milestones in golf’s history.
“I think this is going to go down historically. It is everywhere on social media today! Man United have just put an Instagram post about it.
“Every celebrity, every walk of life, whether they are into golf or not into golf. It is everywhere and for the right reasons.
“He is the biggest star in the world of golf over the last 15 or 20 years and he has finally become a grand slam winner. He has finally become one of only six players ever to win all four major tournaments.”
Rick Shiels makes two big Rory McIlroy predictions after he wins The Masters
McIlroy had been under huge pressure heading to Augusta once more, which has been a common theme for him over the years.
It was his 11th attempt at clinching the career grand slam, with expectations at an all-time high thanks to his early-season success.
He triumphed at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Players Championship, and was in superb shape for his first-ever title at The Masters.
But McIlroy dealt with that immense pressure superbly from the very first round, albeit there were certainly moments of disaster throughout the week.
He did, however, recover superbly after each setback, with Shiels now predicting further major success for McIlroy after what he witnessed at Augusta.
“I think he’ll get to 10,” said Shiels, who has also predicted the five-time major champion to win The Masters again on two occasions.
