Scottie Scheffler is the red-hot favourite to win the US Open at Oakmont this week.
Oakmont is set up perfectly for Scheffler, what with his accuracy off the tee, pinpoint approach play and uncanny knack of avoiding big numbers.
If the 28-year-old plays well, he will win the US Open, it really is as simple as that.
In fact, Andy North suggested that Scheffler will win the US Open by four or five shots if he plays to his usual standard.
The fact that a huge margin of victory for Scheffler would shock nobody is a sign of just how dominant he has been recently.

Scheffler seemed to be in stunning form on the range ahead of the US Open on Monday, and many are expecting him to run away with the tournament this week.
As all golf fans know though, that is never an easy thing to do, especially at a major championship.
Scottie Scheffler shares ‘big difference’ in preparation for the US Open this year
Scheffler already has three wins to his name on the PGA Tour this season, including a major championship.
He will be desperate to win the third-leg of the Grand Slam at Oakmont this week, and it would take a brave person to bet against him doing just that.
Scheffler took the week off before the US Open this year, unlike in 2024, when he barely made the cut at Pinehurst and ended up finishing in a tie for 41st.
And he responded when asked by reporters if he feels better prepared to tackle the US Open this year.

He said, “Well, I think it’s a big difference having the week off. Memorial is always such a difficult test. I think last year I won at maybe 8- or 9-under, and this year was at 10 and I won by a few shots.
“It’s just one of those golf courses where that’s a place that wears you down and you have to be so focused for 72 holes that coming from that test to this one was pretty challenging, back-to-back weeks.
“So having the week off was really important for me to get home, get some rest, recover, and I showed up here on Sunday and was able to play maybe 11 holes and really get used to the conditions. It feels much more like my normal major prep versus last year where you’re coming in from basically a major championship test, coming into another one is pretty challenging.“
Scottie Scheffler’s driving stats this season make him perfect for Oakmont
Scheffler has been the best driver of the golf ball on the PGA Tour this season.
He’s longer than people think, and is incredibly accurate as well.
Here’s how his driving stats look this season:
| PGA Tour statistical category | Scheffler’s 2025 ranking |
| Driving distance | 72nd |
| Driving accuracy | 30th |
| Total driving | 11th |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 1st |
The scary thing for Scheffler’s opponents at the US Open this week is that he’s the best iron player on tour.
Oh, and he’s ranked number one in scrambling too!
If Scheffler doesn’t win the US Open, it would genuinely be a big surprise.
