Scottie Scheffler is the red-hot favourite heading into the US Open at Oakmont this week.

Scheffler has been in sensational form of late, with three wins in his last four starts, including the PGA Championship.

The 28-year-old from Dallas has firmly established himself as the world number one since the start of May, and his game seems to be perfectly suited to the challenge that awaits at Oakmont.

Scheffler looked to be in imperious form on the range ahead of the US Open on Monday, and if he plays well, he could win by a huge margin.

He will certainly fancy his chances in Pennsylvania this week.

Scheffler has been drawing comparisons with Tiger Woods recently, due to his magnificent, incredibly consistent form.

The three-time major champion could well have four majors to his name come 7pm Sunday, and it might not even be a close run thing.

Andy North predicts how many shots Scottie Scheffler will win by at the US Open

Andy North knows what it takes to win a US Open.

He won two of them in 1978 and 1985 at Cherry Hills and Oakland Hills respectively.

North spoke to SiriusXM PGA Tour radio ahead of the highly-anticipated US Open at Oakmont this week.

And the two-time winner of America’s national championship made a very bold prediction about Scheffler.

He said, “I don’t have two people on my list at all. Rory better figure out a way to drive the ball in the fairway because if he doesn’t it won’t be a great week. I can’t believe the odds I saw for Scottie were 3/1. I can’t believe he’s not close to 1.5/1. I just don’t see anybody beating him this week. He’s playing great, he’s the best ball-striker in our game. On a golf course you have to hit the ball perfectly, he doesn’t miss shots in the wrong places very open which, if you do that at Oakmont, you’re dead. I could see, if Scottie has a Scottie week, he wins by four or five.”

North is spot on there. If Scheffler plays anywhere near his best level, he will win this week, there is little doubt about that.

Scottie Scheffler’s biggest wins in his career

Scheffler is more than capable of getting the job done down the stretch when things are tight at the top of the leaderboard.

However, he has a history of running away with tournaments as well.

Here are some of his biggest wins:

Tournament and yearMargin of victory
CJ Cup Byron Nelson 20258
Hero World Challenge 20246
PGA Championship 20255
PLAYERS Championship 20235
Arnold Palmer Invitational 20245

Could he rack up another win by five shots or more this week?

All the indications right now are that Scheffler will dominate the US Open from start to finish.

And a multiple shot victory really would be a big statement of intent from the world number one.
